I bet she got the jitters. The most important thing is that she showed up for the rehearsal. It would be a lot more troubling and disappointing if she didn't.

That is so lovely. Talk about "all access!"

Also, how exciting to be able to hear the strains of Christine rehearsing Don't Stop. Michele

Yes, she may not want to be there (hope that's not the case), but she feels obligated. I'm not worried that she won't show. I'm just sad that she might not do anything much.

But what can you do? Guess we'll have to take Don't Stop and LIKE IT, by golly.

She does want to be there since she practically offered to do so. I really think it's just the jitters. Maybe a twinge of doubt. Just hearing her sing and play again would be great.

It would have been nice for her to be there for the shows. However, she may have felt that if she stayed, she might be pressured in to two more "performances".

So she removed herself and eliminated that possibility.

oh yeah, and how bad would that have been?? tragic!

maybe what Mick was saying to whoever asked him (it's somewhere in this thread or the other Dublin one) was that she considered Dublin when they rehearsed and then chickened out the last moment. like she did during SYW tour.

who knows, maybe London doesn't get Christine after all.

One reason could be that at least in London, she could sleep on her own bed after. I would be surprised if she does not do London, though. Stakes are high for those shows more than anything. Dublin performances would've been unannounced/unexpected, for the most part.

Plus, she has probably committed herself (privately) to Mick for London, especially.

Despite the rumor that she was supposed to do SYW (the gossip even said that they'd ordered a grand piano for Songbird), the band itself (I don't mean musicians, but I mean FM members) denied that was the case and never said she was. Afterwards, John said that was never true that she was going to be there in his Q & A. In Meantime interviews, Christine said that there was a little arm twisting, but she was not willing.

yeah so seems like a perfect (and wasted) opportunity to do it for a warm up, before stakes get too high.

Oh, right, I remember something about her showing up unexpectedly in Earls Court before the performance.

Poor woman was probably already frazzled as it is. I'm guessing she took the ferry getting there (for obvious reasons), but if she had to fly there for some reason, then I understand why (just speculating, but she's not gonna do that if she could).

But ITA, what a wasted opportunity.

It's during the SYW tour, so around 2003.
