![]() Billy Joel puts on a hell of a show although I’m going off the one show I attended probably over 15 years ago and what I’ve seen of him over the years in videos. I believe like all the others in that age bracket, he’s a lot less animated on stage and singing in much lower keys than he used to. I’d almost be half tempted to see this given how good of a show Billy does and how his songbook is full of classics. But alas, it ain’t coming here and I’m not planning/booking travel to see septuagenarians anymore.
I’m curious where they’ll duet. Leather and Lace seems likely. But what song of his? New York State of Mind? Some of the lyrics of Big Shot would be on point. |

As to possible duets, I know one song Macfan4life would love to hear- Two Kinds of Love, originally performed by Stevie and Bruce Hornsby. Being a piano man, that would seem an obvious choice for Billy, except it was a bomb as a single. |

BTW, I saw on the back of the Stand Back collection, for disc 2 which has mostly duets, every song either says ‘with or featuring’ Tom Petty, Sheryl Crow, Kenny Loggins, etc but Two Kinds of Love doesn’t mention Bruce Hornsby at all. Does anybody have any idea why his name was left off? Seems very odd. |

Your description of the male singer was spot on, but I understand no guy in her band is going to sing any of her duets well, so my expectations are automatically lower. Maybe I should have said Stevie sounded fantastic on the song. I recall Waddy singing Stop Dragging My Heart in the past and while it might not have been cringeworthy, it sure wasn’t good. |

Believe it or not I think Billy Joel could get into SDMHA and Leather and Lace.

![]() I just saw their Instagram posts confirming they plan to “five to seven shows.” Joel will keep performing solo in-and-around their double-bill shows.
I saw her at the Xfinity Center (aka Great Woods) Sept. 19, and the set was a crowd-pleaser, but for a crowd 50-70,000 strong - not all diehard fans-, she will need to juice up her set. Dreams, Gold Dust Woman, Rhiannon, Landslide, Gypsy, Edge, Stop Draggin', Stand Back, If Anyone Falls are sure things. Soldier's Angel has to go. Same for Enchanted, even though I know it's one of the songs that rests easily in her vocal comfort zone. When I saw her, she had cut Soldier & Moonlight, because there was an impending lightning storm and she actually started the show early. Shows that followed, cut Rock & Roll, Moonlight and re-added Soldier. For What It's Worth will probably stay in the set, but at least it's a very familiar song. Still, as someone who has seen her live about 25-30 times, I don't want cover songs. At Great Woods, there were 3 covers in a 16-song set. FWIW, Rock & Roll, and Free Fallin'. FF has grown tiresome for me. She should really re-examine Talk to Me, Leather & Lace, Sara, Seven Wonders & After the Glitter. I know I Can't Wait isn't going to ever happen again, but I loved it on the RAL tour. Her duet with Joel could be "Needles & Pins," which was a Billboard Top 40 hit (peaked at #37 on the Hot 100) for her & Tom P. in early 1986. I still have the 45. I know, not likely. |

She mentioned in an interview many years ago when she was practicing for the Vegas shows that it was practiced but did not translate live very well. Its not an overly complicated song if you tone down all the funky stuff.

![]() "I Cant Wait would be a great opener."
Yes, it would be. I love the alternate vocal takes. Dropbox link to all the single edits, remixes and ALTERNATE VOCAL takes: Alternate vocal takes #2, 3 & 4 are the ones you absolutely want. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/c8qfr...kb00v91fw5083s |

I didn't think she'd do Seven Wonders in a solo set, but who knows if FM will ever tour again so it's her song. I don't know get why she doesn't do Sara in her solo set considering she did it in 2007. So the Billy shows will definitely have: Stand Back, Edge of Seventeen, Stop Draggin' My Heart Around, Rhiannon, Gold Dust Woman, Outside the Rain, Dreams, Gypsy, Landslide, If Anyone Falls, Wild Heart/Bella Donna, and Enchanted. If she's given a full set, the surprise songs will be the three covers: For What It's Worth, Free Falling, and Rock and Roll, as well as Leather and Lace (with Sharon and Marilyn), Rooms On Fire, and I think as you pointed out, After The Glitter Fades. |
