It was the soundtrack to pretty much every barbecue my parents had in the late 80s, in my mind.

If they do it, I want the Little Lies demos on it -- love them!

Surely you aren't saying Ricky is hard to listen to? Each to their own. I think it's a lovely piece of music.
I can appreciate the various extended remixes may not be everyones cup of tea.

I want to hear You and I parts 1 and 2 as one song. They should have just been one song on the album. Get rid of When I See You Again.

I always saw it as a bookend. Part one is the perfect opener to the album. It almost makes it seem like the album is a concept album telling a story. It sets the scene for what's to come. And then Part two is a nice wrap up. It talks about turning in for the night, which kind of makes me think of the way "Never Forget" is the perfect ending for Tusk.

I loved the extended versions. Big Love becomes a huge production and adds some flair with the extra Stevie vocals. Seven Wonders is even better given a softer makeover, it becomes almost epic. Little Lies, I'm not as crazy about. It had a nice soft feeling to it and the dance mix tried to make it more aggressive and that totally didn't work with the feel of the song, in my opinion. I would love to hear how Stevie's ad libs were supposed to sound in the context of the original mix of the song. Having her sing over that little sampled trumpet thing at the end always sounded a bit strange to me. The various mixes of Family Man are fun but he worked so hard getting Stevie's voice to sound all echoey and modulated and whoever did the production on the 12" kind of threw it away by just letting her voice play unfiltered. That could have been the centerpiece of the whole mix but it's just kind of there. And I never heard the 12" of Everwhere back in the day. I don't know if it just wasn't available where I was living or it had a limited release or what, but hearing it years later I really liked it. It would have been in heavy rotation on my mix tapes back then. It kind of makes me think of going through Splash Mountain in Disneyland. It has this sort of playful southern feel to it with the percussion. And there's something wonderfully cartoony about the way the ending is drawn out with the cool little vocal samples and the almost regal keyboard part. If they couldn't find enough demo material for a second disc I think they have more than enough with the extended mixes and B-sides. And they could even have the dub mixes and alternate mixes from the 12" records as bonus downloads in iTunes if they didn't want to take up space on the CD's. Or perhaps have the deluxe CDs be the remastered album, B-sides and demos and have an entire 12" library as a bonus download either on iTunes and/or Amazon.

Ricky is simply horrible. Almost like you-you-you-you and I....
Don't get me started on When I see You Again.

The remixes are good for one listen.

You drink water, I drink gasoline...

Ricky is a pre-programmed Lindsey solo song that musically was given to Christine. It appears Christine embraced it and went along. Its different for sure. I like all of Christine's songs but Ricky is near the end of the list.
Ricky is Caroline meets One more lonely night.

Of course there will be a Deluxe Tango. It had four huge hits and was immensely popular at the time of release, plus there's a slew of b-sides, alt mixes and unreleased material. The band spent 18 months in the studio working on this - so I'm sure there's plenty of material to work with, even if much of it is demos already in circulation for decades.

Well, some of us have more money than sense then

On another matter... no matter how many times I listen to You and I Part 1, I can't get away from the opening line being 'Under strange fookin' skies'. I can't hear the word 'falling' at all. It sounds like an expletive voiced by a person from the North of England.

'Under strange forbidden skies' is what I'm hearing.

That's how I've always heard it, too.
