Young Artist Meets Stevie Nicks

A week after postponing a concert on Montage Mountain, rock group Fleetwood Mac finally played at the Ford Pavilion Thursday night.

Before the show, 15-year-old Ashley McFaul of LaPorte met Stevie Nicks and presented her with a portrait she had sketched of the singer. Ashley suffers from a rare condition called arthrogryposis. Because of the condition, Ashley has lost the use of her arms. She used her feet to draw the sketch of her favorite singer, Stevie Nicks. "She's such an inspiration to me," said Ashley. "She's just so awesome. Her music changed my whole outlook on life. Totally different now."

When Newswatch 16 heard about Ashley's drawing, we contacted the publicist for Stevie Nicks. Warner Brothers Records arranged for Ashley to meet the singer just before the concert.

"It was amazing!" said Ashley. "Stevie is the sweetest person you could ever meet. Everything everyone thinks about her, how nice she is, is all true. She is amazing."

Ashley says Nicks encouraged her to keep drawing. The girl from Sullivan County plans to follow that advice

Cool. The Nicksfix should post the sketch. (Perhaps it already has. )

She also recieved a scarf from Stevie at the end of the show. My friend was standing next to her in the front row tonight; he & another guy helped her onto their shoulders so she could play Lindsey's guitar during GYOW. I had just read this thread not more than 5 minutes before he called and told me about it... weird. He said Ashley was very sweet and just so completely thrilled to have met Stevie. How awesome that this was such a special night for her!

I know the girl and she told me that she can play the guitar with her feet...I find that hard to believe.

It can be done! I've seen a street musician who played with his feet, and he was pretty damn good at it! More proficient than some people I know who have the luxury of using their hands.

Do you really play guitar with your feet Ashley? That's amazing!

Great story, Ashley, I'm sure you'll cherish it for years and years to come. It just goes to show that good things do happen, even during times such as these. And I'd bet money that you're wearing the shawl right now!
