Default Peter Green Oh Well remix single

Hi everybody,

I read somewhere about a single 45 with a remixed "Oh Well", that was issued in the late 80s. I think it was released under Peter Green's name .. maybe some sort of disco mix??

Any info on this?

Daniel

I remember a disco/techno version 12" single of "Oh Well" that came out in the late 80's, but it wasn't credited to Peter. The artist was eponymously named "Oh Well", too.

Thanks ChiliD and Sharksfan2000!

I wonder if it is worth having... I'm not much into disco/tachno, but if they used Peter's original guitar or voice, then maybe...

Bob Welch
Billy Sheehan

Those are the only two covers (I'VE heard, anyway) that have even attempted Part II.

Kenny Wayne Shepard and Joe Jackson covered the song, too.

I never thought I would ever hear a stinky cover of "Oh Well", but KWS proved me wrong. I really think his version sucks.

Joe Jackson's is really cool, though! An odd connection is that Larry Tolfree...the PGSG drummer, had previously been a long-time member of Joe Jackson's band.

Default ohwell remixes

I suppose the problem with Part 2 is that although it is a relatively simple guitar piece it needs an exceptional guitarist to make it sound good. Of course Peter Green was an exceptional guitarist

Joe Jackson's rendition is pretty cool actually.

My aunt had (has) the album it was on, and I happened to notice the track listing and wondered if the "Oh Well" listed there could possibly be Peter's "Oh Well."
Checked out the liner notes, and was happy to find that it was! When I listened to it, I was even happier to find that it didn't suck.

I must have it here somewhere, but I don't think I ever played that for myself.

Nowadays Jackson hangs out a lot with Rickie Lee Jones, over on Great Big Island.

If you can't find it and want a copy, let me know.

I don't think I've ever asked you this. How do you think the Bob Welch version compares to the original? I really think it's great.
