I would guess this interview took place before Stevie came in to do her contributions.

I think Lindsey was referencing the fact that FM was "supposed" to be touring this year... even Mick "unleashed" (ba dum bum!) about this in his infamous Playboy interview. But as we all know, Stevie dug her heels in & shut the Mac down cold. With the way Lindsey lives & travels, I have to assume he loses money on his 21st century solo albums & tours... he was probably counting on a revenue injection from Fleetwood Mac to bolster his bottom line. This is probably why he decided to do a 1 man show this year... it was far cheaper. Regardless, I think it turned out to be probably the coolest thing he's ever done.

Whole heartedly agree! For all the 'what if' scenarios we can discuss with FM this year, I believe we have received new and innovative material, tours, documentaries, etc. in return. Everything happens for a reason and I think everyone agrees that we can only hope for this creativity to continue in the future for FM as well!

Per article, it was a phone interview near Grand Rapids, which was November 16 (Saugatuck show), so it had to be after he recorded songs with SN. The "year too late" is indeed an odd quote, perhaps out of context. He may know things we do not regarding timing. I would not think he would be concerned about cashing in commercially with FM next year versus last year, considering his "artistic" stance on Tusk and his solo work. But then again, the "Big Machine" that is FM is the cash cow.

Sorry, I must have missed this. When was something said about Stevie and Lindsey recording together after he with John and Mick?

There is more about it in the Rumours thread. Stevie gave two song titles, Miss Fantasy and Sad Angel. More details in that forum.
