Default singing the blues for baby and me..

The Union - Elton John and Leon Russell

I'm not one to analyze or theorize or whatever... I just know what I like and what I don't like. I've been a fan of Elton John for a very long time (Don't Shoot Me, I'm Only the Piano Player being my favorite record of his..) anyways.. I just bought the Union, listening to it as I watch Mizzou-Oklahoma on mute, drinking Guiness, and telling myself this music is classic. I'm serious. I'm on my third listen and this is the best set of music I've heard this year. Thank you Elton and Leon... I Should Have Sent Roses is blowing my mind.. in such a good way. This album is stellar! - Keith

p.s. I didn't expect to hear Neil Young.. another one of my faves.. Shiloh blew me away, too. Man, I needed some good music..

KEITH!

Acquiring the new Elton John/Leon Russell album as I type this... I've heard nothing but rave reviews about it.

Thumbs up Out of all the boxed sets...

I own and have bought ever since the boxed set craze started (Gee, I remember when the Led Zeppelin boxed set came out in 1990 - I bought a copy as a present for myself for winning the ASNT National Scholarship), it is still my favorite for value - 3 complete shows, Mexico City audio discs and San Diego & Seattle videos (That 1989 Seattle show is in my top #3 favorite metal video concerts ever).

Best part about the original version of the Live **** set was the booklet/progarm, which is now a file on the DVD version (On the Seattle disc). I liked the copy of a fax the photog Ross Halfin faxed Lars telling him "to come off your rockstar pedestal before your head tumbles off your shoulders", Gee Ross was accurate even back during the 1991-1992 touring cycle.

Currently listening to the Blow-Who vs Missou game...Missou just intercepted, goodie!!!

the only other odd combination that 'worked', as of the past several years IMHO, that I thought was very very 'under the radar' was "Rebel Meets Rebel" - featuring the vocals of the REAL COUNTRY REBEL David Allan Coe with the musical backing of 3/4th of Pantera (Rex Brown, Vinnie Paul and the late Dimebag Darrell)

Ya gotta add the following too:

Leon once did an in-studio version of "Over the Rainbow" on the air for Tulsa's 97.5 KMOD ("The Rainbow Station") that when he finished there was dead silence in the studio because everyone present had tears in their eyes.

That still remains legendary to this very day...
