Default Bob Weston's There's A Heaven

Here's an album that never seems to be talked about. I've always assumed that most people around here have it, since it was sold directly through the Penguin during Bob's Q&A, but perhaps I'm wrong. For those who do have it, what do you think of it?

I'm listening to it right now for the first time in quite a while. The first two tracks are just pop fluff, a little too polished for me, but get beyond that, and this is a very solid blues album with some really great playing by Bob. The long intro to "Enigma Files" is just beautiful (the rest of the song ain't bad, either), "De Da Do Da" is very nice fun little ditty (and would have made for good interlude on a Fleetwood Mac album), "Walkin' Blues" has some great down-and-dirty vocals... There's nothing groudbreaking here, but all in all, it's a thoroughly enjoyable - and often quite funky! - album.

I even like the first two songs. Overall, I like the album. I go through phases with it...I'll play it almost non-stop for a couple of weeks, then go 6-8 months without listening to it.

The final track ("All The Love In The World") is really powerful.

Thanks for bringing this album up...it is about time for my "2 weeks" with it.

Yes, and it's got a great kind of Caribbean/African/"world music" vibe that's fiendishly catchy, plus some great female vocals. The stylistic breadth of the whole album is pretty impressive, I think. Bob tries out a lot of different things, but the album still sounds very cohesive, and he pulls off almost everything really well.

I haven't managed to find this one yet - I only have a couple of older singles of Bob's - Desire and Silver Arrow, both of which I really like. Does anyone have either of his older albums - Studio Picks and Night Light? What are they like?
