Default Obama opens exploratory committee

Barack Obama is one step closer to running for President.

I like Edwards a great deal, but I will be supporting the candidate who voted against the obscene Iraq war from the start.

Sure is. I like that--gives us many options and different perspectives on issues.

Obama is a first term senator though. He wasn't on the Hill when the IWR was voted on so we can only speculate on what his vote might have been.

He gave a speech in Illinois around the time the war began. He said it was the wrong war at the wrong time. I assume he wouldn't have voted for the war resolution.

I think this is great news. The more I see & hear from Obama, the more I like him.

You're right, thanks for clarifying. Although as has been said, he is on record opposing the war resolution.

Sen. Clinton is finally taking a stand on the war. She will introduce legislation to cap the number of troops in Iraq and increase number of troops in Afghanistan.

Coincidence this is the day after Obama announces?

I like the guy a lot, but this is what makes me nervous - he's very young & doesn't have a lot of experience in government yet. Maybe that's a good thing in a way, but I am concerned that it may hurt his chances in '08 & that if he does lose, he might not try again in '12.

Actually, the thing that scares me most is that Americans:

* Won't vote for Hillary because she's a woman
* Won't vote or Obama because he's half African

And if either of them get the Democratic nomination & it plays out this way, we'll get stuck with some assh*le Republican for another 4 years. I'd like to think that our country has more sense than that, and that people won't base their vote on race or sex. But let's face it - these are the same people that voted Bush BACK in for ANOTHER 4 years. I have very little faith these days. I hope I'm wrong.

with Paula, skin color & sex will be an issue with some Americans and their preferences for who they will cast their vote for. Barack has a good shot, but some have said if he would play a race-card ploy it could cost him.

Personally, I dont care what color someone is. They can be blue-green w/purple polka dots for all I care, as long as they can do a better job than what is currently being done in Washington D.C.
