Default Yeah, I'm a little behind the times

My husband and I ended up with an ipod for Christmas. My question is, does anyone use itunes and if so, how much is the membership? I started creating an account, but before I put in my credit card information, I'd like to have an idea of how much it's going to cost. Also, is it a good thing? I don't really plan on using the ipod that much (Jeff will), but while downloading songs for that, I'd like to also download songs to burn to a CD. Can you do that with itunes?

I use iTunes every moment of my life!

When you put the CD-ROM in that you got with the iPod, you should be prompted to register it, and therefore create an iTunes account. It doens't cost anything (the iPod is expensive enough!). Just go through that whole procedure and you should be good to go.

And yessss, you can burn CD's with iTunes. It's all I use.

I just read this to my husband and he's saying that they did all that but it is still prompting us to pay for songs.

OOOOOOOH.

Yeah iTunes charges 99 cents per song, since thats basically the only way to download music legally.

You can pay for the song with either credit card or iTunes cards (gift cards, etc...). Or you cann just download Limewire and get all your songs for free.

The iTunes gift cards are the way to go. That way your account has a balance and it's not charging your credit card.
Also, you know you can upload all of your CD's and your current mp3 files to iTunes?
I'm with Ryan. I love iTunes. There are even adapters that allow you to play your iPod through your car stereo. Pretty cool.

I made the mistake of telling this woman I was talking to the other night(we're "acquaintence" friends, sitting in a bar), that I get most of my music for free, from Limewire. Bitch went OFF on me, loudly announcing that "I AM STEALING!!!". People around us are all looking at us. I myself had to say, fairly loudly, "Hey, we're not talking about robbing banks, we're talking about downloading music for free!". I then asked 2-3 of them, that we knew, if they DL'd free music. They all said yes. She didn't care, and kept ranting about stealing.......

I use Limewire for the hard-to-find songs, songs that I can't find at iTunes (and there are a lot they don't carry).

I've never had a problem with Limewire...I quite like it actually

I used to use Kazaa and Bearshare back in the day. Other people have mentioned Limewire to me before- but I was always so paranoid about crashing my computer (this happened about 2 years ago and it was a costly and time consuming problem) by downloading *any* program. See? I'm a geek! Anyway, having fun over at Limewire as we speak...

Kazaa is the one I miss the most. I could find EVERYTHING on Kazaa!
Limewire's okay. My friend was telling me about a new one called Frostwire. It's supposedly hooked into the same network as Limewire, but it's supposed to be faster DL speeds. And it's free, of course!
