A nice vinyl rip of "Buckingham Nicks"
While we wait...patiently...for an actual digital release of Buckingham Nicks, I went ahead and created a new vinyl rip this week for my music blog. The post also includes some vinyl rips of "Don't Let Me Down Again" and "Oh Well" from the 1980 live album, and I faded both in/out so they sound great as stand-alone listens. Thought I'd share the new rips with some other big Mac fans!

what cartridge and stylus did you use on your turntable? what phono amp?
I was thinking of doing this with a couple very good condition ones I have with my audiophile tube gear and high end stylus and cartridge so as to get the best sound possible at the highest bit rate and sampling I could do, then splicing out any pops. I also have a high end vinyl record cleaner i would run it through. A lot of the rips I have heard are very thin and lack a full range of sound. I think they were done on those USB turntables or something. It gets the job done, but not as well as I would like. Last edited by AnthonyMI; 06-27-2014 at 09:15 PM.. |

Thank you..
I pretty much only listen to Buckingham Nicks on vinyl, but I appreciate you sharing as the digital copy I have is not the best copy... I'm traveling next week and it will be nice to take Buckingham Nicks with me. I appreciate it.
"Without A Leg to Stand On" - one of my favorite Lindsey songs... listening to it as I type. Thanks again.

Hmm. So l just listened to your version of Frozen Love, it seems to me your turntable is a little bit fast. Does yours have a strobe and adjustable speed? I think your 33 1/3 is fast enough that it is pushing the pitch up a step or two and speeding up the songs. Of course I am comparing to the two 10 and 13 year old vinyl rips that I already have and not direct to the vinyl that I own. Who knows, maybe the mp3s I HAVE been listening to are SLOWER? Haha.

Anthony, you may be right-- it appears to be just a smidge fast. Hmmm, I will have to do some further investigation as it doesn't have a speed adjustment option and I've never noticed it before.
