Question Who gets the credit

I just wanted to chuck this out here to get some thoughts.

Bob Welch HAD been saying that it was he who convinced the rest of FM to move to the US after the bogus band thing bla bla bla (and Mick USED to concur with this) but then Mick felt as though HE wanted to start taking the credit for the move to the US deal.

Now, I've just read in the liner notes for the new Welch album "His FM years & beyond" he says it was him AND Mick who felt (and convinced the rest of Mac) that they should move to the US.

We've heard how Bob and Mick & Co. have patched things up at the Nashville show on the SYW tour but those CD liner notes of Bob's must have been written before the Nashville encounter you'd think (and therefore the burying of the hatchet). So...

1. Why are they all changing their story on this? and...

2. Is there a possibility of a "makng up" already having happened before this Nashville thing that we may not have known about? (especially if it was Mick that "made the first move" in rekindling their friendship, probably due to this credit thing that Welch NOW writes of though I did notice that Bob said the thing in the notes about how there was talk of him staying in FM after HAHTF and having BN join as well which it seems is something Mick doesn't like to tell the press (as it is only Welch that speaks of this from what I've seen anyways) but...)

Looking forward to your thoughts on this and thanks in advance.

John

This is very interesting. I'll bet this reconcilation began before Nashville. I've always assumed that going to America was Bob's idea alone and then he eventually convinced the other three. As for Buckingham/Nicks joining and Bob staying in the band, I've NEVER heard this before. I don't think Mick mentioned anything like this in his book.

I don't know anything about the record business, but does anyone know if Mick gets a financial cut out of Bob's new album? He did use the Fleetwood Mac name afterall. Maybe this could explain the revisionist history.

Question

Good theory on the finance side of things, that may very well be hmm...

Bob spoke of him possibly still being in the band with BN at his Penguin Q & A I think.

Yeah, I'm still leaning towards the idea of it being Welch's idea alone as to the moving to the US but hopefully we can find out the truth on everything someday.

If we can find out the truth about this, what do we take on next? The JFK assassination? After that, what? The "Roswell Incident"?
