I love Cyndi Lauper, but unfortunately her cover of "You Make Loving Fun" was rather antiseptic. The arrangement is watered-down disco, and is rather underwhelming.
But then, Cyndi can't be faulted for that... she recorded the song pre-fame, as a one-off gig for some record company that wanted to cash-in on the success of Fleetwood Mac's original.

I'd love to see her cover a Mac tune now... arranged the way *she* wants.

It was when Ryan Adams was still in his now defunct band "Whiskeytown". On their album "Old '97s" (which apparently is now out of print)

And, in searching I found that Jennifer Condos (Stevie's bass player on her "Rock A Little" tour) was in one of the final incarnations of "Whiskeytown". Small world.
