Default Goodbye, Veterans Stadium

With 3,000 lbs of explosives, Philadelphia's Veterans Stadium was imploded this morning. You could hear it over here in Jersey 2,000 people stood on the waterfront to watch it go. Was I one of those people? That would be a negative

Yea, I didn't like it there. I don't like the new pile of crap they built either. Then again I don't like Philadelphia Football nor Baseball so I guess I won't have to worry about going there

And basically that photo is how I remember the place anyway.

BTW, I have distinct memories of waking up at my grandmother's in Atlantic City to the sound of old apartment buildings (such as The President, where she used to live) being knocked down to make room for the casinoes. I used to love the old, gentrified city with the rolling chairs on the boardwalk and converted hotels.

And incidentally, I remember JFK Stadium, too. Took them long enough to condemn that wasteland.

All in the name of advancement. What's the world coming to? Heaven forbid we have anything with a bit of history behind it left. No, let's build more casinoes. I suppose that's what Cape May is for. Too bad in the future that place will be nothing but ocean.

Never been to Cape May.

BTW, you say ( ) you don't know Dipstix. What shores did you go to growing up? For me it was AC, Ventnor, Ocean City (NJ), and Brigantine (for the castle! ), though for Senior Week it was Wildwood.

Growing up, I went to Ocean City, Maryland. We went every summer for a week when I was a child and stayed at this hotel on the inlet (it's such a dive now...breaks my heart because I loved that place). Then when I was older, my dads brother purchased 2 condos and a house down there so we would stay at one of the places.

I'm fairly certain we did rent a house with my aunt and uncle in Ocean City and we did stay with my moms friend in Wildwood two summers for a week and once in Stone Harbor (talk about boring). My friends family had a house on Grassy Sound and a duplex in Ocean City so I went there a few times but for the most part, it was OCMD. I never stayed in AC but we took day trips there.

Is it just me or do you think Wildwood is gross? When I was a kid it was bad and now it's just deplorable. The Crest is nice though.

It's not just you, you and Wildwood are both gross.

Once on the beach there were drunk high schoolers trying to make a dead shark swim. (It had washed ashore.)

We were trying to use it to scare you out of the water. You were frightening the small children with your blue eye shadow, visor, thong, and bangle bracelets.

For the record, you should know I've retired the blue eyeshadow...it's now purple...and the visor is now a huge sunhat...thong...still there...but now it's cheetah print! Oh, and let's not forget my fabulous huge sunglasses that match my bangle bracelets.

Jake...you need a new schtick...tired and old my friend. Tired. And. Old.

Hey, we have rights, too.
