I agree... this was my initial reaction as well. However, the website seems legit enough, and the picture of Stevie backstage with Sting seems to reinforce that the author was indeed backstage talking to her. Getty Images has multiple pictures of the two together from last night. I guess we will just have to see if other, more trusted news outlets pick up the new album story.

He's making a joke, he just meant their last album of new material came out a long time ago. If you read the whole article, it's written very informally, as a gossip columnist would write.

Glad to hear a new album is on the way!

Thanks for clearing that up. I did get the hint that it was a joke. It wasn't completely clear. Certainly want this to be true!

I retract my hoax statement. Now that I have seen the pics of Stevie posting with the little kids from the cast of School of Rock, I realized this interview is real.

Oy, I just reread the article and learned the writer is not a kid. But I hope this is all true. I want it to be true.

I'd like to see a standard version and a deluxe version, the deluxe including the EP songs redone with Christine.

Oh so this was really written by a kid from the cast, then it makes sense!

Just to clear things up the columnist is being sarcastic and most definently making a joke at his own age and also the fact that its been so long since their last album

This article is certainly not a hoax

Stevie Nicks: Fleetwood Mac Will Record New Album, Group Has “Plenty” of
by Roger Friedman - December 7, 2015 1:19 am, Showbiz 411

So: Stevie Nicks and Mick Fleetwood were at the Broadway premiere of “School of Rock” Sunday night. Why? In the movie, Stevie’s “Edge of Seventeen” is cited and sung. In the musical, too. Big discussion of Stevie and Fleetwood Mac in the show, which got a lot of laughs from people in the audience who knew they were in attendance.

Backstage, Stevie told me the first time she knew “Edge of Seventeen” was in the movie, she was at home by herself with Sulamith, her hairless Chinese Crested, and watching TV. “I couldn’t believe it,” she said, “and I had no one to share it with but her.”

Stevie told me that Fleetwood Mac’s long world tour is finally over. Now they will undertake a new album. Not just the four songs they released for download in 2014. “A whole album, we have plenty of songs,” she advised. This will be most welcome. Their last album came out in 2003, before I was born.

I also met the great Mick Fleetwood for the first time ever. He is very tall and extremely nice, with long gray hair tied into a pony tail and a matching beard. We talked about the pre-Lindsay Buckingham-Stevie Nicks pairing coming to the Mac in 1977 for the self titled album that launched a mega career for the group (and went on Rumours, Tusk, and everything since then). Do you go back as far as [original member] Peter Green, Mick asked? I do, I told him, and we talked about “Bare Trees,” “Heroes are Hard to Find,” and “Hypnotized.” Mick was surprised that I knew Peter Green wrote Santana’s hit “Black Magic Woman.”

Sting, who’d really never met Fleetwood, said he went back to the Mac 1968 hit “Man of the World.” Fleetwood was impressed. I think he was impressed we knew that Fleetwood Mac started out a blues band.

Also PS I did ask Stevie why the original “Buckingham Nicks” album has never been on CD. It remains one of the few oddities of the rock era still only on vinyl somewhere (like my record bin). Mick chimed in “It got them the gig.” That was FORTY years ago. Well? “The real answer is, I don’t know,” said Stevie.

So much for that.

This article is certainly not a hoax
it's extremely sloppy article (if it can be even called that, reads like that person was talking, had his phone convert it into words, and never looked back to see whether what's written actually makes any sense ), but it never struck me as a hoax.

wish we had more of a direct quote than what's in there, but - FINALLY!!!!!!

this only took 5 years so far since the rest of the band first started actually recording it, for her to finally agree to another FM album. hopefully adding Stevie's contributions to the album will take much much less and we will see that album some time in 2016/17 time frame.

and hopefully the whole 2016 will now not be hogged by the rest of the band having to work on just the FM album.

This was a really confusing article. At first I thought the writer had mixed Mick up with Sting. Then I thought maybe it was written by Sting. After reading it a couple of times I'm still none the wiser, though I assume Sting was at the premiere with Mick and Stevie. I'm surprised Sting and Mick never seem to have crossed paths before.

Does this suggest the EP songs will be part of the new album?
Screams 'double album'.
My thinking is what she meant by referring to the EP was that what they will eventually release will be more than an EP. Not necessarily that those same songs will feature on the album.

Tomorrow she tells something else. I hope she'll fit in, but I think they will make a 12 song album based on what's already there, so that she has to come in 10 days to do backingvocals and then that's it.

My goodness. I hope it's double album. With a deluxe edition that's a triple album!!
