Any chance anyone has anything from any of the recent outings? Like "Love Is"?
Went back 5 or so pages and saw it mentioned once but no links

It's for sale on Amazon for $.99, as is "Beautiful Child". Commercially available.

Stevie sounded like she had a LOT of her vocal problems from that tour that night. "Stand Back" especially sounded off.

However, I will say she got stronger by the time "Edge of Seventeen" hit.

Does anyone have a link to the 1981 concert (the HBO show) as broadcast originally on the radio? With the full "Outside The Rain", plus "Angel", "Leather and Lace", "How Still My Love" and "Bella Donna".

I have it on a bootleg vinyl album, but the sound is sped up a bit. My ancient cassette I made of it back in 1982 had the correct speed, especially noticeable on "Bella Donna" and "Angel".

Thanks, if anyone has a link!!!

The Maker of Birds aka Three Birds of Rhiannon is absolutely my new favorite demo! What a touching melody. Now why in the heck did it take me so long to fall in love with this song? I guess the song chooses you at the right time, you don't choose it (if that makes sense). Well it chose me today.
Any insight into this song? I know it's been discussed before but I didn't pay much attention at the time since I didn't think I liked it.

Lindsay, after Stevie's "Rhiannon" became a well-known song, Stevie then found out about the mythological Welsh goddess, mostly from the prose books by Evangeline Walton, based on the Four Books of The Mabinogion. It is after immersing herself in these stories that Stevie wrote her other Rhiannon-inspired songs, as well as changing the content to her own "Rhiannon" as well, mostly in meaning if not so many actual words.

"The Maker of Birds" is the title of the chapter in The Prince of Anwynn in which Stevie takes many of the images for her song. Stevie's "The Maker of Birds" was recorded and copyrighted in March 1978. The storyline in the song is from that book.

If you read the Evangeline Walton books, you will see how much they inspired Stevie.

***Remember, when Stevie wrote "Rhiannon" in November 1974, she knew nothing about the Welsh goddess, having only read the name as a name for a character in the book Triad, which was about two Welsh sisters, Rhiannon and Bronwen, but neither were goddesses or witches.

Thanks so much for the insight. I probably knew most of this but like I said I never paid much attention since I hadn't been a fan of the song in the past. I actually like it more than Lady From the Mountain, China Doll, If You Were My Love and the other piano demos from that time (those are from that time right?).
Do you love The Maker of Birds demo?
