That's one way to look at it.
Another way to look at it, is that Stevie was genuinely thankful for the way he helped her with those songs.
It may have been hard for her to say those words to him in person, so she wrote her thoughts down and gave him a copy of the album... which included songs that she rightfully acknowledged he had a hand in shaping... in the hopes of making amends.

(I'm basing these comments on what Stevie says she wrote in that note: a thank-you to him for being there as she wrote most of the 'Bella Donna' songs, and for helping her to craft them.)

Incidently, Lindsey's narcissism? Often the exact opposite is peceived as over-confidence. In fact, that statement is kind of empty, it barely makes sense circumstantially even if he were in adoration of himself.

She inscribed it to Lindsey, and wrote a note to him on it, and signed it. I think her point was probably pretty clear. I think Nancy hit it on the nail when she said the reason Stevie didn't hand it to him at the time was because he probably wouldn't have reached out for it.

As evidenced though, neither of them was mature enough to start really working through their issues at that point. Emotions were still too raw.

And the sexual "liberties" were creeping in the US society, too. Esp within the musicscene....

Perhaps somewhere deep in her heart and mind she was hoping he would give her the approval she desperately wanted? I agree, at that time it was never gonna happen but her need for that acceptance, her need for him to say her album was great and it was what she was doing, overrode her better judgement. I sort of think this whole incident speaks volumes about Stevie and her need for Lindsey to be proud of her. She is like that to some extent to this very day.

I also think she thought she could cajole him via that method -- I mean she certainly knew how to and had in the past. Moreover, she certainly knew him better than any of us and, therefore, I find it hard to question her method - I mean her careful planning of how to present it to him indicates she knew it would be a hard thing for him and she thought that was the best way to do it as she knew him to be. I think never mentioning it to him and letting him hear it on the radio was not a good thing to do. The whole situation was eggshells for sure.
