Sorry, the new one had better arrangements and "Everything's Coming Up Roses" was the song Midler was born to sing.

Maybe so, but it was written for Ethel Merman!!!

Interestingly, I heard Patti Lupone was initially approached for the "new" revivial currently running on Broadway. She declined saying her voice could not take it anymore at her age. This was sad to me because talk about a belter - I saw her in Evita and she gave me two bruises and welp when she first beleted!!!!!! Patti would have eaten that role alive in her younger days!

Bernadette is okay in the role in that her voice is textbook perfect, etc. But, IMO and although I LOVE her, she is just wrong for the role. But, she has made a hit of it - so more power to her.

I thought so, too, but then I saw her in it and WHOA! I thought she was perfect. Simply perfect. I love Bernadette, though; she's one of the most beautiful and talented ladies to ever be in showbiz.

I heard that about her in Gypsy. I want to see it, but have many others in line. Plus, I just cannot get over that Patti L. turned it down!!!!!

Where IS Rent? I can't believe it didn't catch in on the UK...it's my favorite show. I think Joseph should be farther up too. And Grease at #1...well, the show just brings back bad memories for me, and I don't think nor ever will think it's that great. A good show, an even better movie, but #1? I guess it's just my "Nevermind" of musicals (in reference to the top 100 albums list always including "Nevermind" near or at #1). The only difference is, in this case, I actually like Grease somewhat.

I love her. She seems like such a great woman. I've heard clips of her stint as Evita and she was fantastic. They need to start running Life Goes On again.

Just taking a quick glance over this list, it seems they were only rating musicals that have been filmed... which is why something like 'Rent' wouldnt be there.
To the best of my knowledge, they've never officially released a filmed performance of it.

I see some of my fave musicals there, but I didn't notice 'Into The Woods' (which has been filmed).

I can't believe no one commented on the fact that Eminem's '8 Mile' is on there.
Ugh. I think calling that a "musical" is a bit of a stretch... but I forget that they'll do anything to find a way to include that hypocritical thug on these "100 greatest" lists.

Phantom of the Opera! I was hoping it would be on the list! I looooveee that musical! Awesome, just awesome!!

Moulin Rouge and Chicago, it doesn't surprise me much.

Oh, Blues Brothers! My father loves that movie! "We're on a mission from God." Gotta love it!

Actually, I just watch the ending of Moulin Rouge the other night, and Ewan McGregor has a fairly nice voice, but as a Star Wars fan, I must admit that I laughed my @$$ off at it.
