Bob Dylan
Has Peter ever spoken about Bob Dylan? Or the other way around (more unlikely, I guess), has Bob ever talked about Peter?
I am a big fan of Bob Dylan too, and I think that he, alongside Peter, is among the very few white people who really understands the blues. I know it's a cliche, but still... I don't think they've ever met, or...?? In the early 90s Bob released two acoustic albums ("Good As I Been To You" and "World Gone Wrong") with old blues (and folk) songs. And his 1997 album "Time Out Of Mind" includes songs like "Dirt Road Blues" and "Million Miles", which really brings me back to the Robert Johnson pre-war blues era. Then there is his last album "Love And Theft" with the song "High Water (For Charley Patton)" and ... well, the whole CD actually!! I wonder if Peter ever listens to Bob and what he thinks of his music.. By the way, I think it would have been great for Peter to do a Charley Patton cover! Daniel |

Dylan and Green...that has the potential for a really interesting combination.
I have never seen so much as a reference to Green (or Fleetwood Mac) in any of the myriad Dylan bios (or the first volume of Dylan's autobiography) Dylan's early work was I think too lyrically dense to appeal to Green, although it would have been interesting to hear the band take on some of the harder rocking numbers like "Sitting On a Barbed Wire Fence" or "Can You Please Crawl Out Your Window" (recorded by Hendrix for a BBC session)or "Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat". I think either Green or Spencer (think of Spencer's version of Tim Harding's "Hang on to a Dream") could have done an really interesting job with "4th Time Around". The idea of Green doing a session with Dylan now is a fascinating one. Dylan is one of the few people I think who could embrace Green's idiosyncrasies. I think Dylan's openness to go for the feel, rather than perfection could go far to bring Green out. The other advantage would be that the focus would remain on Dylan, leaving Green to just play what the song required without undue pressure or expectations.

Hi BklynBlue
Thanks for the reply! I agree with you about Dylan's early material being maybe too dense.. A Green-Dylan session is more than I would ever allow myself to hope for .. but then again, why not!?! Green has surprised me before, i.e. sessions with Chris Coco and Peter Gabriel. I'm sure te result would have been fantastic!! I think both have that "the first take is the sweetest" attitude. How odd this would come up. I've been thinking for a while that it would be really cool to hear Peter cover "Gotta Serve Somebody."
