Default Beasts of burden

Does anyone have much of a back story on this one. Sounds like peters famous les paul on the disc so i´m assuming its not too long after his split from fleetwwod mac.

I like it personally quite a funky dark tune.

Recording date is sometime in 1971. It was released in January 1972. Note that Nigel sings the first lines, then Peter takes over.
Snowy White does not play guitar on the single as some sources claim.
Very much a Les Paul sound, yes.

Oh, I thought you were after facts .

There's been no discussion of the lyrics here. Pretty angry and disillusioned.

Default muddy track

what has always struck me is that even for that period, the recording itself left a lot to be desired. I wish, like a lot of this stuff, someone had access to the original mixes

Default Veggie, go green

A lot of people i always imagine identify with certain tunes, like thats it coveys a feeling that people relate too. Mostly the big hits and usually i´m no different. However i dont think i´ve ever identified my feelings any better conveyed than beasts, seriously peoples need to check this song out.
Listen to peter´s sermon, give up the lies that is society and stop treating nature and animals like raw materials.
I´m seriously trying to become veggie due to the influence of this track.
If peter was considered to be "mad" at this point in his life then there is no evidence in this track, just the performance itself is sublime, but after listening to the lyrics, these are words of a very intelligent and wise man.Especially at the time when there wasnt really any massive knowledge freely available about how we were and are destroying "natures paradise."
What a great artist and man peter green is!

It very well COULD be Peter playing a Les Paul on the recording, but when he did the song on a BBC TV program, he was playing his sunburst Strat. (the video of that is floating around on YouTube)....oh...never mind...I was thinking of "Heavy Heart", not "Beasts Of Burden".
