Default Bob Dylan rips off Peter Green

Ok so you can make your own mind up on this one...

Quote:
OK, it's a tribute. But still. Give Peter Green some your green, Bobby Zimmerman. This song is not "Beyond Here Lies Nothin'" It is a lie. It's Peter Green licks, his soul, his being. And his song. You are a rapacious, money-grubbing ****, Bob Dylan. Carlos Santana at least gave Peter Green writing credit.

I still love you Bobby but it is a love like I feel for the girl who f*cked me once but stole my wallet twice. It may be in the past but it burns in my memory to this day. If you do not pay for your inspiration you will die by your own sword. Peter Green may not have all his faculties but he has rights. Just nobody to represent him, it seems.

There are certain similarities, but this guy has gone way over the top. It's not like Peter never "borrowed" licks and lines from all kinds of people, mainly old bluesmen. The similarities between Peter's "Leaving Town Blues" and Arthur Crudup's "If I Get Lucky" are way closer than what Dylan's done here. It's always been like that.

Yeah, Dylan is to music like Tarantino to filmmaking. It's like a Zelig! I don't know where I read thie definition Robert Plant made of bluesmen, but it went something like: 'band of beggars and thieves'. Bob suits that definition but with almost all music genres

Did you notice this, forum administrators?

QUOTE : UPDATE: To my friends at ledge.fleetwoodmac.net:

While I wait to be approved to post on your forum, you're absolutely right. I went overboard in this post. Being a fan of Peter's since 'Pious Bird', I sometimes feel a little overprotective towards the man and his art. That a few pints might have influenced the post is beside the point. However, I don't back down from my premise. Let's just say, Bob Dylan played a tribute to 'Black Magic Woman' and Peter Green with this song. I just hope someday Bob pays a similar tribute on his radio show, if he hasn't already. Love ya, Bob, and Peter, too.

Plant should know. He "used""a whole lot of" stuff and left it uncredited as his or Led Zeppilins own until he was successfully sued for back royalties. I sense bitterness in that quote.

Yes, listen to this from Steve Mariott and The Small Faces 1965 (I think):
