When an "excessive number" of tickets for Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers' three-night run in Chicago were spotted on eBay the same day as a special Internet pre-sale, something didn't look quite right. That's because the majority of those tickets were now up for grabs for several times their original value.

As a result, the band's management, along with Jam Productions and Ticketmaster, decided to postpone the public on sale. Originally scheduled for March 14, a new public ticket sale is being planned with details to be announced March 18.

Included in that announcement will be a special voucher system to ensure that only those people who purchase the tickets will be allowed into the theatre. Tickets already purchased via the Internet pre-sale will be honored.

Tickets for the Milwaukee Summerfest show go on sale March 15.
"We need to make every effort so that the real fans will have access to tickets at the intended price," band manager Tony Dimitriades said.

"This is a landmark event at a historic venue, and access should not be restricted only to those with the deepest pockets," Jerry Mickelson from Jam Productions added.
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers are playing The Vic Theatre in Chicago April 14, 16 and 17.

I love Tom for his gutsyness!
As much as I love FM, and as much as I have heard LB talk about doing what is right, and pure and truthful artistically, I really doubt our group will have the hutzpah to do something like this.

More power to ya, Tom!
This makes me wish I was one more of a hardcore Petty fan.
