Keith Urban changed the lyric in Say You Love Me from “have mercy baby, on a poor girl like me.” To “have mercy baby on a poor boy like me.” C’mon Kieth, just sing the original lyrics.

I didn't mind that he made his tribute from the narrator point of view. I think that was his way of honoring the song. Singing it from the writer's POV.
The whole thing felt so respectful to me. I don't know a thing about him, either. (Just my 2 cents).
