Default Pssst, look what I stole...

Here are the "Peacekeeper" lyrics. I stole these from Mick Fleetwood's site:

We make all of our suns the same
Every one will suffer the fire we've made
They all explode just the same
And there's no going back on the plans we've made

Peacekeeper take your time
Wait for the dark of night
Soon all the suns will rise

Peacekeeper don't tell why
Don't be afraid to fight
Love is the sweet surprise

Only creatures who are on their way
Ever poison their own well
But we still have time to hate
And there's still something we can sell

Peacekeeper take your time
Wait for the dark of night
Soon all the suns will rise

Peacekeeper don't tell why
Don't be afraid to fight
Love is the sweet surprise

When the night is cold and still
When you thought you've had your fill
Take all the time you will
This is not a test, it's not a drill
Take no prisoners, only kill

You know all of our friends are gods
And they all tell us how to paint our face
But there's only one brush we need
It's the one that never leaves a trace

Peacekeeper take your time
Wait for the dark of night
Soon all the suns will rise

Peacekeeper don't tell why
Don't be afraid to fight
Love is the sweet surprise

Peacekeeper take your time
Wait for the dark of night
Soon all the suns will rise

Peacekeeper don't tell why
Don't be afraid to fight
Love is the sweet surprise

When the night is cold and still
When you thought you've had your fill
This is not a test, it's not a drill
Take no prisoners, only kill

What do you think?

All songs are essentially poems...just sung.

SARCASM - Well the lyrics are really weak.........it would be so much better and stronger if it were written in the first person.....Lindsey doesn't write the way he used to.......blah, blah, blah.....

All right, I'll knock it off before you go getting all wrapped around the axle and yell at me! lol! I'm just kidding.

No, really, I am very curious to hear the finished product. I'm sure it will be a treat!

As my dog would say, "GRRRRRRR!!."

Actually, Sharon, I do have a couple of complaints about the lyrics: Rhyming "made" with "made" and "same" with "same" is weak, but the overall message of the song is great. This line is a real gem: "Only creatures who are on their way poison their own well." And this stanza is pretty inspired:

You know all of our friends are gods
And they all tell us how to paint our face
But there's only one brush we need
It's the one that never leaves a trace

Quite honestly I'm not too fond of it....I'm sure Lindsey wrote it.
But I bet he plays one hell of a guitar on it!!

I thought Stevie's lyrics were hard to figure out! Gotta read it a few more times.

Well, from other sources, I'd say that "Peacekeeper" is NOT a "new" song, but, it obviously wasn't included in the songs that we've come to refer to as being from "GoS". For all we know, if "GoS" HAD been released "officially", it very well may have been included. We DON'T know and obviously never will.

We've GOT to remember that "GoS", as we know it, is just from a reference CD that Lindsey submitted for approval to the record company (and leaked from there), NOT songs as a group that were going to be released "as is". There are, no doubt, quite a few OTHER tunes that we have no knowledge of that were recorded as part of what would've been on "GoS", and probably will surface on the upcoming FMac album.

I agree with that whole post..Carne...when I read same, same, made, made, I was like, Huh? Maybe they typed in the wrong words. LOL I will have to read over it a few more times as well to get the gist of the song...I'm slow...whaddayawantmetodo? LOL I also agree about the stanza there, kind of a chilling song, in the vein of Murrow a wee bit, IMO. I cannot WAIT to hear this song I've NEVER heard before!! LOL

Thumbs up Internal rhyme

As far as crafting, songwriting goes... internal rhyme is usually quite effective - especially
when sung... I'm looking forward to HEARING the finished product... That is when all
speculation will become realisation...

PS. I can't spell...

Powerful lyrics, I really like them, and yes, like about another 1000 or so of us I am also desperate to hear what the MUSIC is going to sound like.

The information that we were given in the LB forum is that it's "mid tempo". Coupling that with the rather long set of lyrics, I'm going to make an educated guess that the song is a relatively long one. For some reason I can't envisage a significant guitar solo in this one, but hopefully I'm wrong!
