The web was a huge help for all music fans, as it made easier to buy albums and especially to have access to information about bands, musicians, discographies etc.

I know this isn't the post-rumours forum, but I paid $70 (pretty much the equivalent in US$ and A$ these days) to import Dave Mason and Mama Cass album. Oh and I hated it.

Ouch! I bet it was a real letdown back then. Come to think, another advantage of modern internet times is the chance of listening to an album or at least some samples of it, before making a buying decision.
