Default Anybody speak German?

Does anyone speak German? I have a very brief interview with Christine from last year, but it's in German. After using Dictionary.com as well as my 5 years of German from high school many years ago, I have a basic general idea of what the interview is about. Would anyone who speaks fluent German be able to translate the interview into English? That way the interview would be even more clear to me. Any help would be appreciated.

I just had this image:

German interviewer: Guten Abend, Fraulein McVie. Was fur Ein piano Haben Sie?

Christine: I can't understand a bloody word you're saying. I thought this was going to be in English. (Looks around for manager)

Sorry.....okay I will be quiet now.

Here's the interview:

Fleetwood weg

I don't have an umlaut on my computer keyboard, so I couldn't type them in this post. Also, when I typed (ss), that means it's a German letter that I don't have on my keyboard. I can't remember what the letter is called. It's been 30 years since I last spoke any German.

Also, I could scan the magazine page & e-mail it if that would be of more help.

Thanks for your help.

I also had 5 years of German... in high school! I can read some of the article, but probably not enough to help.

When the Softpop icons Fleetwood Mac brought out their comeback album Say You Will, the only one missing from the legendary 70's line-up was Christine McVie, responsible for hits such as Songbird and Don't Stop. Now we know why: she was working on a highly emotional solo album which would make her Mac-friends turn green with envy.

Miss McVie, in 1992, you announced your first solo album. Now, that was 12 years ago.

I only manage to have one solo album ever decade! (laughs out loud) Seriously, I don't see myself as a solo artist, nor as a rock goddess. Those albums all happened coincidentally, especially the last one. I had already decided to just give myself and it all a rest.

Not with the music, that's a passion I won't ever lose. But everything around it bugs me enormously. The stress that comes with touring just got too much, considering my age. The idea of having to live out of a suitcase for 6 months again, was absolute horror.

Yes. I saw the band a couple of months ago at a London concert, and I was surprised at how good Stevie is doing, that she is still withstanding all this stress, considering we are not teenagers anymore. After the last Fleetwood Mac tour, I only desired to leave this lifestyle behind. But the desire to write songs, I won't ever lose. I've been living in this country like an old english matron, for a few years now. I've got a nice house, but in the biggest room --which I call the saloon-- resides my piano. One day I sat down there and wrote You Are, and it came to me: this is still fun! Then I asked my cousin Dan if he wanted to play the guitar, since I don't know any other guitarists. When he came over he also brought his computer and we recorded everything. All in all it took 3 years.

(I think you forgot something in Christine's last reply, right? The first sentence doesn't really make sense, so I translated it the way I saw it.)

German is not my native language, but I live 10 miles off of the German border, and a lot of people around me speak it. Maybe someone who is actually from Germany can make some changes here and there, but I think I got it covered quite well.

Thanks so much for translating the interview. You did great! I didn't miss anything in Christine's last reply except the article has .... then her answer. I think she was finishing the thought of the interviewer's last response since he didn't actually ask her a question. Again, thanks so much for taking the time to do this. It's much appreciated by me.

It's appreciated by me, too. Thanks for posting it and for the translation; it's always good to read new Chris interviews.

Alright, this might be a really stupid question, but does Christine speak fluent German?

Not that I know of. I assume the questions were put to her in English.

In several of my German bootleg shows, she does say Danke Schon. But, I have a feeling that's about the only German she knows.
