Default GYOW in Guitar Hero World Tour

http://blogtown.portlandmercury.com/...d_tour_pricing

Activision has released the pricing scheme for their Rock Band competitor Guitar Hero World Tour.

Unlike previous Guitar Hero games that focused solely on guitaring and heroing, World Tour apes Rock Band by adding a microphone, drum kit and gameplay that should be instantly familiar to anyone who has ever played the latter game.

Ready to hear your wallet cry?
* $60: GHWT game -- sans peripherals
* $100: Guitar Kit -- includes GHWT game and a single guitar
* $190: Band Kit -- includes GHWT game, a guitar, a microphone, and a drum set
* $240: Deluxe Band Bundle -- includes the Band Kit, a Male XL t-shirt, battery charger, key chain and cloth guitar case

Good news for those of you who already sprung for a full complement of Rock Band instruments: All of your fake-ass guitars, drums and microphones will work on GH World Tour whether you're playing the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 version.

And since I'm in a good mood, I've decided to throw in a full list of the tracks included in World Tour. I'm of the opinion that they don't quite live up to Rock Band 2's offerings, especially when you take into account the 300+ downloadable songs offered in RB's online music store, but maybe you have a hard-on for Maynard James Keenan.

Hit the jump for more.

It's a long list, so if you have to pee or stuff all of your worldly belongings into a bindle just in case the economy collapses while you're reading, I'd recommend doing that now.

I found it interesting that in the Bob and Tom interview when Lindsey was asked whether any of his tunes have been used or considered for use in this, he had no clue and thought if any of his music was used or considered he would likely be asked ahead of time, or for permission.

So is he just not aware?

I wondered that, too - were all the members of the band asked for permission to use Go Your Own Way in Rock Band 2 / Guitar Hero? I figured that was how it worked, or maybe Warner Bros. or whoever is in charge.

I'm fairly certain it's just the record labels. They're the ones who make the deal and let the game use the master recordings/rights. I highly doubt that Lindsey even heard of or played the games (kids are just a little too young) - but some artists are really into it and actually have re-recorded old hits when the master recordings aren't available. Jimmy Buffet actually re-did three songs just for the game. And lemme tell ya, "Margaritaville" is tougher than you'd think.

I don't think a lot Lindsey's stuff would work very well anyway in the game because you can't do the multi-fingered approach he uses but who knows?

And fyi - I can't wait for "Hotel California" on there. That'll be a blast.

It was likely whoever owns publishing rights to the song, which might not necessarily be LB.

All the same, baby. All the same.
