Default Reviews

So far, I haven't read any bad reviews. The worst I've seen is a "good, but not great" review.
Maybe critics hold the band with such high expectations that anything they do will fall short?
I was particularly pissed off at Rolling Stone. I found the review of the album through their website. They gave it a 3 (out of 5) star review--not bad, but they gave it a very brief review-mentioning maybe 3 songs by name. This is LB's first album with the band in 16 years and his first album of new music (of any sorts) since 1992. The band deserves much better than that. Its almost as if the critic, Arion Berger, didn't even listen to the album in its entirety. Not only that, he came aross as cynical, opening his review by writing "for those keeping score at home, the latest lineup of this endlessly regenerative California Rock legend..." That, to me, sounds negative from the start.

I'm interested in hearing about other reviews or comments regarding this.

Unhappy I'll tell you what upset me,

reading a negative, personal review of SYW on the "other" message board. I just couldn't get over it. I'm just like speechless. How can you just hate EVERYTHING about SYW? I mean everyone is entitled to your opinion, but I just love SYW. Of course, it's not Rumours, but nothing can match that. I can't pick a favorite song on SYW right now. It was worth the wait.

I haven't read many other reviews. I did read the USA Today review on-line. They gave it a good review. I might have seen one other negative review, but nothing like this person on the other message board.

Unhappy I hear ya Lee.

I was a lil taken aback by that negative review also. This album is PHA-NOMINAL and it gets better with each listen. There's not a total stinker on the album (Silver Girl, while lyrically yucky, the production is good!!) and it's FUN and interesting....two requirements to get MY attention from albums!! One reason I love FM is that NOBODY else sounds like them!! I HATE that a lot of music sounds the same, you have Creed, The Calling, Lifehouse (NO OFFENSE to fans of these bands!!) and they all kinda sound similar, even vocally! It's just not my bag to like bands that sound similar, I am an ecletic person and I love hearing all styles of music from R&B to pop to country to punk to New Wave to gospel and everything in between!! That's why I love that this album is all over the map, you have that cohesive FM sound, but you have rock, pop, country, retro...and it WORKS!!

And if I have to hear "it's not Rumours" one more friggin time...
**OMG, Lee, I didn't mean YOU saying that, you were saying it positively, I meant reviewers saying that!!! I went back to reread your post and was like OMG, she's gonna think I am talking about HER!! LOL

*edited post because I'm an idiot! LOL*

Default Here ya go . . .

And Rumours was spelled wrong, no less. Yeah, now he's calling them zombies basically. Well, he getting blasted over there b/c he doesn't know what he's talking about. Lindsey & Stevie are the most emotional artists around. Most of their songs on SYW are emotional. Why compare it to Rumours? A totally different time, like 30 years ago. Different time, different people. Mick said in, I believe, the Dateline interview, that they ALL grew up about when they were asked to asked to perform at President Clinton's bash.

Lee

P. S. No, I'm not insulted about the Rumours comment, but calling me a him when I'm a her was.
