Default Show Me a Smile story?

I’ve always loved this song, and lately it’s taken on new meaning for me as I’ve been singing it as a lullaby to my baby son. He seems to love it too.

Does anyone know the story behind the song? It sounds as if it were written to a baby boy; perhaps a relative’s child?

“You’ll be a man in your time, my little one...”

Don’t know the source for this poem. I imagine it may be either addressed to one of her brother’s children, or to the various “chock-a-block” children at Benifolds.

Not sure. But, I always have loved this song. It's truly a lullaby. The first time I heard it, I thought of my mother singing to me.

I believe it was a lullaby written for her nephew Dan. Very fitting he grew up musical and one day collaborated with her.
PS- I adore this song, though I think it deserved just a bit more work.

Thanks Fuzzy!! I never knew that.

Northern Star and Calumy are beautiful pieces.

You know what...I'm going to have to take that back.
I'm sure I read that somewhere at some point...but I've just looked at ages and at the time of Future Games he would have been 6.
A child... but possibly too old for the inspiration for a lullaby.
...will have to investigate and see whether I really did read it somewhere.

Doesn’t she have a half-brother whose possibly younger than Dan?

Yes. Dan is the son of her brother John. She has a half brother, Cyril whose children may be younger than Dan.
