Default Deluxe Rock A Little Wishlist

Hey all! With the recent announcement of the remastering and rerelease of Bella Donna and The Wild Heart, I am hoping that Rock A Little will hopefully be remastered and rereleased as a deluxe edition soon! What do you guys wish to see on it?

My dream would be this

DISC ONE - Remastered Original Album

DISC TWO - Outtakes/Demos

1) Rock A Little (Extended Alternate Take)
2) Chanel, Chanel (Take 3)
3) All Over You [I'm not sure if this would be possible however]
4) Mirror, Mirror
5) Rose Garden (outtake)
6) Thousand Days (Sax Outtake)
7) Something Exquisite (Take 1)
8) Jimmy, Come on Back
9) Night Gallery
10) The Nightmare (I Can't Wait 12-inch Remix)
11) Battle of the Dragon
12) She Loves Him Still (outtake)

DISC THREE - Full Red Rocks Show

~
What do you wish to see on a potential deluxe edition of Rock A Little? Please keep in mind no rerelease has been announced, and this track list is purely my hopes and dreams.

Great idea. I would love for all of Stevie's albums to get a remastered treatment.

I consider "Rock A Little" to be her weakest record. As a 15 year old teenager in the 80's I was hooked on the album, listening to it for a solid year---thus, I know it back and forth. However, "Rock A Little" just hasn't stood the test of time and sounds complete dated. I tried to listen to "RAL" on Spotify the other day for the first time in over 20 years. I couldn't get through it. It's just to 80's synthesizered and overproduced for my taste.

In contrast, "Bella Donna" and "Wild Heart" have held up and still sound completely fresh to me.

I would love for a surprise disc to be the whole Mirror, Mirror album she originally intended.

1. "Rock A Little" (Extended 12" version)
2. "The Nightmare (Extended 12" Remix)
3. "I Can't Wait" (Slow synth intro Remix)
4. "Talk To Me" (Alternate Time/Life version)
5. "Battle Of The Dragon"
6. "Mirror, Mirror"
7. "Something Exquisite"
8. "Night Gallery"
9. "Rock A Bye Baby"
10. "Running Through The Garden"
11. "Lady From The Mountain"
12. "Greta"

So many to choose from!!!! This album could warrant TWO discs of outtakes!

I don't think we will see a deluxe Rock A Little.

I am more curious to see what would be included in STREET ANGEL if/when it gets updated

I have a bad feeling you might be right, however, after the 2003 remasters of the white FM album, Rumours and Tusk, and then the subsequent deluxe versions of Rumours and Tusk, I decided I had to face facts that we'd never ever see a remastered Mirage or Tango. Well, we've got Mirage now (and I'm betting a deluxe or at least remastered Tango will be coming down the pipe at some point, and maybe a deluxe white album), so a deluxe Rock a Little is certainly possible. I suppose it depends on how well the deluxe editions of Bella Donna and The Wild Heart sell.

I'm less certain about a deluxe OSOTM, but that'd be okay with me, personally. But Rock a Little is a must-have.

Those albums were all multi platinum. Rock a Little was not. She won't reissue a deluxe edition if it.

Some of those titles sound really intriguing- Night Gallery and Chanel, Chanel in particular. Is All Over You the song that Billy Burnette played guitar on? I was curious why you said including that song might not be possible.

I would love Love LOVE an audio CD of the full show from Red Rocks! Especially if it at least included I Can't Wait!

I lost my demos so I don't remember anymore my picks in detail but roughly I'd like it to be structured like this:

Disc 1: remastered album
Disc 2: alternates and/or extended versions
Disc 3: scrapped outtakes and demos
Disc 4: Unreleased RAL soundboard material or complete unedited Red Rock DVD, remastered obviously.

I'd like to hear the yet unheard version of The Dealer recorded for RAL, Stevie's version of Baby Don't Lose Your Heart, All Over You with Prince, Freestyle with Les Dudek and who knows what more could there be.

That's PRECISELY why I love it!

I never thought we'd see a deluxe edition of ANYTHING from her solo catalog. So, you never know! I think it will depend on sales/interest of these first two releases.

HA! Now with THIS one, I'm inclined to go with what Jondalar said about RAL. "Street Angel" was a flop and to this day is still considered her worst effort. But still, I'd LOVE to see a deluxe edition of it (but then, I'd love a deluxe edition of EVERYTHING she's done). I just don't think it's going to happen with this album.

Agreed! BD, WH and RAL is like the "Holy Trilogy" in regards to Stevie's solo career!

...and I would ADORE a deluxe version of TOSOTM, by the way. But like "Street Angel", I'm less certain about that one, too.

Your optimism is always so refreshing.

I *do* believe we will see a reissue of Rock A Little. Stevie has talked before about going through the vaults for Enchanted, and how she found lots of 'wild and crazy' stuff from the RAL days. Also, the act of working on BD and WH surely has her thinking about RAL and TOSOTM.

Stevie is enormously popular with industry insiders. The fact that she has a dedicated fan base helps, too - her label will know ahead of time almost exactly how many units will move based on BD and WH sales. Fans who buy reissues tend to be completists who aren't going to pass up one album in a series.

That said -

Alternates:
Rock A Little - UK 12" extended / alternate mix
The Nightmare - 12" Mix
I Can't Wait - 7" single edit(s)
Talk To Me - Time/Life alternate mix

Non L/P Tracks:
One More Big Time R&R Star (unlikely since it is on Enchanted)
Mirror Mirror
Battle of the Dragon (unlikely since it is on Enchanted)
Reconsider Me (unlikely since it is on Enchanted)

Demos / Outtake Versions:
Running Through The Garden
Thousand Days (sax outtake)
Love Is Like A River
Are You Mine
Greta
She Loves Him Still
Chanel Chanel
Jimmy Come Back
Something Exquisite
Tied Up In Promises (unlikely since it's a cover)
Ooh, Ooh, Baby
You Like Me
No Spoken Word - That synthier version that sarts with 'Be aware...'
Joan of Arc

Thing is - there are probably songs she could choose which we've never heard of, and songs we've heard of that we didn't know were tried out for RAL. So while I'd love to get the stuff on my list on a deluxe package, it's possible that Stevie could surprise us all.

True. But "Violet And Blue", "Sleeping Angel" and "Blue Lamp" are ALSO on "Enchanted" and have been included on the BD and WH expanded editions. It would seem Stevie considers her songs that were pulled off albums and put on soundtracks to be just as important to the whole package...and I love that!

Also...I NEED for "Battle Of The Dragon" to be remastered! It's like in my top 10 Stevie songs EVER!!!

Good point - I was looking at Amazon and notice that both Garbo and Violet and Blue are described as remastered. Presumably, Sleeping Angel and Blue Lamp are also remastered.

Thanks. I'm the down-to-earth realistic one on this board.
