Everyone has their right to their opinion. She is a woman and women have really been impacted these past 5 years. The question should not be why Stevie but why have women been mobilized. How did the United States get its second woman nominee of a major political party. When Stevie is writing songs like this is an example of the times we are living in. The complete meltdown of many on the right because Taylor Swift endorsed Harris was a joke. Who cares.
There is tons of hypocrisy on the left. But few point out the hypocrisy on the right. When Lebron James talks politics he's told to "shut up and dribble" and no one wants to hear him talk politics. When Drew Brees or Bret Farve talk politics they claim they are persecuted for their beliefs. Yet no one tells them to shut up and play football. When Kid Rock shoots Bud Light bottles on twitter people cheer. Stevie should not be flamed for writing something she believes in. I tend to like her dabbling into current events like Desert Angel , Street Angel, and Jane.

I like the song and her voice sounds good. This definitely would go well with her Show Them The Way track that has yet to have a proper release. So it would be nice to get a release date for her new album. I’m not sure how she can pull this track off live on SNL though.

The song works well for me. I agree it is wordy but latter day Stevie is usually like that. I hope she enjoyed making the song and that she is inspired to record more now.

Maybe this indicates a full album release this winter. Is the song itself called The Lighthouse or Get It Back? Maybe the song is called Get It Back, and the whole album will be called The Lighthouse.

Didn’t Stevie say a few months ago that she was working on an album — or did she just say new music?

I feel like she's ONLY been making this style of songs since after 24 Karat Gold lol. I just want some catchy music like In Your Dreams / 24 Karat Gold era.

I like when it kicks in and gets going, but I hate the breathy vocal at the beginning.

Yeah okay! Maybe they, or Sheryl will edit the single release down and take parts out, to reduce the length, and to make it radio friendly. Since radio prefers to keep songs to time limits, to allow for advertising etc!

Sleepless Child, you could try to contact Sheryl and suggest editing the "breathy vocal at the beginning", out! I've always loved the introduction of the voices at the beginning of 'Whenever I Call You Friend', by Stevie and Kenny Loggins, so there are many ways to introduce the beginning of a song. Kind Regards!

I know, I was just thinking that. Her and Lindsey have that in common in their later years. They like to write the same song over and over again.

With Lindsey it’s fast fingerpicking guitar over Lindsey’s whispered vocal.

With Stevie it’s every danmed song is going to be about the dream she had in 2008. And that’s not an exaggeration. This is is literally Show them the way 2.

If this is part of a larger album then this is an awesome indication of a potentially great album. Love the vocal and production. This song gives me hope Stevie could absolutely kill Joan of arc at 76.

But if this is just Stevie’s new thing. I’m going to write a new song every presidential election and say go vote, it’s not that good of a song. I much prefer show them the way. I know it’s not popular but that last 2 minutes is some of the best Stevie recorded music this century

what's with the baby jane high pitched whisper? And very lispy.....that whole first half. I get the attempt at a big powerful punch up in the middle....but....

The second half where it rocks is great, but she sounds icky in the high whisper......

Amen. I listened before reading anyone else's comments... but many of us are on the same page.

I hope this is leading up to a new album. There's a single show with Billy Joel planned for next March. Maybe there will be a solo tour for the new album in the spring.

I'm curious if the new album will be on the BMG label.

Hi bombaysaffires, Yeah I agree, the breathy vocal reminds me a bit of "What's A Matter Baby"!
Kind Regards,

As Hawkeye pointed out, I guess whispering is what you do when don't have much of a voice left. I hate Lindsey's whispering songs every bit as much as Stevie's.
