I just watched the SNL songs….
When did Stevie start wearing an Apple Watch??!! I’m just a little surprised to see she is wearing tech.

I feel like she used to wear a Fitbit years ago. Maybe she realized it's time to upgrade . Gotta get those steps in! |

I think she did a great job. Doing a complicated new song live on TV that few know is not her comfort zone. Glad she did not do Stand Back.

The song is a little too long, and by the end I was shouting…yeah I get it.
But that said she looked and sounded just fine. It is an atmospheric song and that was created. |

I think the whispery intro actually would have worked well for the new song when done live. At least until the minute mark when the instrumentation starts to pick up; not for nearly half the song like the recording.
There is something about studio microphones and the isolation of the vocal in a recording booth that isn't conducive to that "soft" voice in the recording. The constrained and insular quality of the voice as accentuated in the recording is something that I doubt would have been present live. |

I've been really critical of the current Stevie, but I thought she did a good job. With that said, I would not go see her live again. The last time I saw her live was 2003 and I could already see the decline. I would rather keep the memories I have of the early performances. The hand movements started heavily during the SYW tour. I think that it's more about having someting to do with her hands, like playing the faux tambourine. At least she didn't have the horrible gloves on.
As far as her current voice goes, if fans still get some enjoyment from it then who am I to say? Of the aging singers Wille Nelson sounds about the worse and fans still want to see him. In some ways it seems better go out while you still have some abilities left, but obviously others see it differently. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BirJMnMcfBs

those have some cool health apps like heart monitoring, so..... maybe she needs to pace herself during shows/performances...

It's easy to forget, she's closing in on EIGHTY. So... there's also osteoporosis risks after menopause and NO ONE wants mama to fall and break a hip. So she's become very good at creating the illusion that she's moving around more than she is by waving her hands and shawls around. She also benefits from tech and the ability to put all sorts of movement on the screens and lights in her stage set. When I think back to FM/Rumours Mac, when all they had was that bare tree backdrop... and any visual interest had to come from the band members... I thought she put lots of effort and as much energy as she could into the SNL performance which is great at her age. But her voice is really shot and to me anyway sounded like it had some little bit of technological tweaking to it.

Some of the cast are saying that in the history of SNL there was never such a cast coming out to watch the musical guest as there was last night.

I’m glad Stevie is still out there performing …. She still looks beautiful for a lady pushing 80. I remember in 2001 when Grace Slick made the comment about “rock and rollers over 50 looking stupid out there on stage”— there was a lot of pushback from fans. Stevie has always said she would tie ribbons on her wheelchair and keep on rocking. As long as Stevie can still draw a crowd there is no reason for her to stop. When Joni Mitchell sang Both Sides Now at the 2024 grammy’s sitting on a throne — I thought of Stevie and hoped she too would still be rocking into her 80’s. It was nice to see that she was given a national platform (SNL) to perform. She is keeping herself relevant and that is obviously very important to her

Personally, I miss her original voice. The 'Silver Springs', 'Straight Back', 'Crystal', and 'Dreams' voice! That is the voice I fell in love with all those years ago. Age affects us all, sooner or later and as some people have already commented, it's better to bow out in dignity rather than be criticized because you can no longer do what you used to be able to do! Just look at the, current, president. Sometimes it's not easy to retire and he realises that the best way to try to honour his legacy, is to try to retire as gracefully as possible and to do everything he can to help the American people, before he leaves. I respect him for that! There is more to enjoy in life while you still can. I haven't been able to see this latest SNL performance, but judging from some of this forum's reviews, I don't think she would want to upset her true fans. The fans who have been loyal to her, throughout her whole singing career! Just my opinion, of course!

She did herself and us proud and put her Fabrizio boots back on for the TV. Those boots belong on her feet. When she doesn’t wear her boots, it’s like Isadora Duncan without her scarf or Jean Cocteau without his silk handkerchief.
The SNL followers on Instagram were greatly impressed with her performance. She got overwhelming public approval. I would call her SNL appearance a huge success. Does this mean that Fleetwood Mac is reforming?
