Personally, I also doubt she wears a wig. Extensions, maybe, but not a wig.

Oh yes I remember Darkest Hour movie when Churchill (Gary Oldman) made that gesture and was later warned by his secretary that palm facing inward does not mean Victory. She said it means "Up your bum, Sir."
Apparently Churchill didn't know that.

I think she’s nervous and self-conscious, and the hand gestures are her way of kind of hiding her face. She’s never been comfortable with any sort of “acting” on camera.

I think it started sounding pretty good once the music got louder. She had the intensity of mood and voice to match the music once things got in gear.
