RIP Mr. Haggard
he was to headline the G Fest in Muskogee this June.
Oddly I found a 45 of "Okie from Muskogee" not long ago and posted the photo of it on FB...

Oh my god.Even on his birthday .I'm lost with words .I love him.He was TRUE country music.Down home country music he was.Not todays crop of crap.
Now he's up in heaven singing Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes with George Jones.And the echos come out of the walls and say NOBODY.

My Dad was a huge fan of his. He saw him four times in concert. Country music will never quite be the same without him. Rest in peace, Mr. Haggard!

Remembering Merle Apr 07 We are deeply sadden by the passing of Merle Haggard. We were excited, and honored, to have Merle scheduled to join us for the first G Fest. We’re sure we’ll hear “Okie From Muskogee” sometime during the festival, as well as many other celebrations of the Hag’s life and music throughout. We’re making plans as we speak and will be announcing Saturday’s entertainment soon. It’s without question how big of an influence Merle had on country music and beyond. We collected some of the tweets and Facebook posts that went out yesterday from our friends joining us for G Fest 2016. We’re all going to miss you, Merle!
