If Silver Springs was so special to Stevie in 77, why the fuuck did she just not put it on Tusk. Its not like they didn't have anyroom for it then.

In all I like how it all came down, the song made the 97 thing very special.

Most likely because that album was the anti-runours? And they didn't want a rumours song on it? And it also could have been that Tusk was Linsdey's album, and I doubt he'd want that song on there.

Because it had already been released (as the B side of the GYOW 45).

I don't think they begin album with the mindset, "hey, what have we already recorded that we slap onto a new album?" Probably with demos though...ideas that they left in the can. Silver Springs was already officially released --as a b-side to Go Your Own Way. I cherished my import of that single for so long, before it was eventually released on CD.

Didn't the 1991 thing lead to Stevie saying she'd never record with Mick again?

I think everyone would agree that SS completely stole the show when it came to The Dance.

And I've never heard of the silver spoon/springs reference. Ooh. Interesting.

Actually, I thought the USC Trojan Marching Band stole the show on "The Dance."

Are you that fascinated by bad brass arrangements of pop songs?

When Stevie did a show in LA in 1991, I think at the Roxy, Jim Ladd interviewed her before the show and they talked about Silver Springs. Ladd talked about it being kicked off Rumours and inquired if it would ever be seen on an album, to which Stevie replied 'I am rerecording it for the next album.' The audience went WILD.
With hindsight, it is a good thing she didn't rerecord it for Street Angel, it would not have been recognizable, and it would have stolen the thunder of the Dance version.

Except for that random guy in the blue towards the back.

Random guy: *stands up, arms outspread, cheering like a mad man .... takes a quick look round ... crap, I'm the only one standing in the whole place .... continues to clap fairly normally before sitting down*

Cracks me up every time.

Not really. It was the only part of the show that was completely unexpected. I mean, how many other bands would even give half a thought to having a college marching band play in their reunion show?

Default Silver Springs

By 1991 Silver Springs had become a collectors item. Stevie had mentioned it and it was played in radio interviews. It had been released as the b side of Go Your Own Way. It was later replaced by Dreams as a back to back hit 45. It was smart business wise for the song to help sell the box set. That was the first time it appeared on CD. I am glad Silver Springs had it's day in the sun. I am also glad Stevie did not rerecord it for Street Angel. I don't care for the tropical If You Were My Love as much as the upbeat Mirage version.
