I remember hearing it for the first time on his website (when he was streaming them as some sort of promotional thing). I thought it was absolutely fantastic and fell in love immediately.

And It Was You is awesome. I loved it live. I think it's sweet and I'm sure years from now when his children are grown up it'll have a special place in their hearts, nostalgically speaking.

Between "Great Day" and the rocking title track, Gift of Screws is one of the best albums I've heard this year.

Even though it's only been our for a few days, I'm curious how everybody would rank the songs on Gift of Screws, from their favorite to least favorite. For me, it's like this:

1. Great Day
2. Gift of Screws
3. Underground
4. Right Place to Fade
5. Wait for You
6. Bel Air Rain (top 3 lyrically, bottom 3 musically)
7. Did You Miss Me
8. Love Runs Deeper
9. Time Precious Time
10. Treason

What does everyone else think?

Ken

Here's mine Ken,

1) Bel Air Rain
2) Wait for You
3) Did You Miss Me
4) Underground
5) Treason
6) Love Runs Deeper
7) Right Place to Fade
8) Great Day
9) Gift of Screws
10)Time Precious Time

The latter 3 songs are kind of a tie for me, in terms of dislike.

This may be hard...

1. Wait For You
2. Great Day
3. Gift Of Screws
4. Right Place To Fade
5. Did You Miss Me
6. Bel Air Rain
7. Underground
8. Treason
9. Time Precious Time
10. Love Runs Deeper

...Hm. Honestly, Underground, Treason, and TPT are all tied...and I love them all, so it's hard to rank them. It's just that my top 6, I am absolutely in mad passionate LOVE with, so they get bumped down, LOL. And really, my #'s 2 through 6 are almost tied too!

The only one that for some strange bizarre reason, I *cannot* get into, is Love Runs Deeper. I do not like it, I'm kinda afraid to admit that, but I don't. I can see why most of you adore it...I just...I don't even know what to say about it. It's slowly growing on me...and "Black angel can't be alone" is one of my favorite lyrics on the album. *shrug* It happens I guess!

I can't really get into it myself don't feel bad. The one song that I love and am surprised that it is on the bottom of most lists is Bel Air Rain.

1. Great Day
2. Gift of Screws
3. Bel Air Rain
4. Love Runs Deeper
5. Wait For You
6. Twist of The Right Place To Fade Fate

7. Underground
8. Did You Miss Me
9. Time Precious Time
10. Treason

1-6 are all SO close within millimeters of eachother. All of those first six have gotten played 15 times or so by me in th past 5 days. 7-10 are by no means anything to sneeze at, but there's a clear divide for me as I indicated visually by my space.

Yah, when I reread the thread I noticed you put LDR fairly low...great minds think alike?? I *love* Bel Air Rain, and yah, I'm surprised to see it so low in the ranks too! I guess because it's in the UTS style, maybe it's just not what people were expecting on GOS. That's my guess...but I still love it!

This is harder then I thought!

This by no means is set in stone because it seems to be changing daily what I would consider tops! The only two I can really say that I rank low are #9 and #10. The top 8 I really love... and to rank them is hard, but this is what it looks like today.

1. Bel Air Rain
2. Love Runs Deeper
3. Wait For You
4. Gift of Screws
5. Great Day
6. Right Place To Fade
7. Underground
8. Did You Miss Me

9. Treason
10. Time Precious Time

Default Gift Of Screws Top 10

1. Gift Of Screws
2. Underground
3. Bel Air Rain
4. Treason
5. Great Day
6. Wait For You
7. Time Precious Time
8. The Right Place To Fade
9. Love Runs Deeper
10. Did You Miss Me

I tend to like the weirder stuff over the conventional sound. The last few songs on my list could have easily been on a Fleetwood Mac album. When it comes to solo stuff I would rather listen to songs that are "different." That's why I love Gift Of Screws and Bel Air Rain, those songs would never fit on a Mac album in their present form. That's why I LOVE the ALBUM and the man behind it LB!!!!!

1. Treason -- can't get the vocals out of my head.. especially the chorus

2. Underground--gorgeous, intimate short story of his career

3. Great Day --masterful studio work and song craft

4. Wait for You

5 Love runs Deeper

6. Bel Air Rain

7. Gift of Screws

8. Right place to Fade

9. Time precious Time

10. Did you miss Me

4-8 could be exchanged with each other, all are great

Time precious Time is not bad at all...perhaps shortened up a bit and less vocal, maybe even instrumental...

for me the only weak and least creative song is "did you miss me" and even that is decent

AAH! You hit it! This is exactly my problem with Love Runs Deeper!!!!! It just sounds way too...clean and perfect and...mainstream...to be a solo LB song!!! RPTF and DYMM, I don't feel that way as much...although I can definitely see the similarities.

Holy crap. Thank you for putting this into words, 'cause I was really trying to find the right phrase, LOL.

I love lists! I hate lists! Let's do this.

1. Love Runs Deeper - I love and adore this song so much. That solo kills me! I like that it's calm in the verses then bombastic in the chorus.

2. Treason - Fell in love with this one when I heard a 30 second snippet on Amazon. It hits me hard and I am still trying to figure out exactly why, but man...the tears flow when I listen to it, that's for sure.

3.The Right Place to Fade - Still say he's saying twist of fate. Blistering solo FTW!

4. Gift of Screws - The maniacal laughing KILLS. Such a fantastically wierd song and I love wierd.

5. Wait For You - "Tarantula passes by the window..." The only thing I don't like is the title change. Shuffle Riff is SO much cooler. Heh.

6. Did You Miss Me - Such an amazing pop song. Catchy as all get out. I am always humming this song to myself.

7. Bel Air Rain - "...still I caaaaaaaaan't complain..." is brilliant. Such a great flurry of guitar work.

8. Underground - One of the "breather" songs on this album. Hehe. It's so pretty and calm.

9. Great Day - What a terrific opener! Great guitar work!!

10. Time Precious Time - I love this song, but ranking this album is extremely difficult. Something had to be #10. I only put it here because sometimes, it's frustrating to listen to. LOL It's gorgeous and the guitar work is amazing, but it's very repetative. Regardless, it's soothing in a wierd way.

There's not a song I don't like on this one. They are all amazing.
