Don't Stop, Seven Million Performances
BMI, October 9, 2012
In addition to Song of the Year, BMI presented the Dance Award to Afrojack and Pitbull for co-writing the latter’s “Give Me Everything.” Talpa Music/Afrojack Publishing shared the award as publishers. Like “Rolling in the Deep,” “Give Me Everything” has also generated remarkable performance totals in the U.S. In just one year, the song earned more than one million performances, and to date, BMI has logged 1.19 million performances of the song—the equivalent of “Give Me Everything” being performed back-to-back for six consecutive years. The night also honored many other successful transatlantic co-writing efforts by British, Dutch, French, Swedish, Italian, Irish, Danish, and other international songwriters for U.S. performances of songs including P!nk’s “Perfect”; “5 O’Clock” by T-Pain, featuring Wiz Khalifa & Lily Allen; Rihanna’s “S&M”; Flo Rida’s “Good Feeling”; “Look at Me Now” by Chris Brown, featuring Lil Wayne & Busta Rhymes; Adele’s “Someone Like You” and “Set Fire to the Rain”; “On the Floor” by Jennifer Lopez, featuring Pitbull; and many more. Also saluted were composers of the most-watched and highest-grossing television programs and films; and the legendary songwriters behind classics that have generated more than three million U.S. radio and television performances. The 2012 BMI London Awards were held at London’s Dorchester Hotel, Park Lane. The songwriters and composers saluted at the event are members of European and other foreign performing rights societies and choose BMI for representation in the U.S. 2012 BMI London Awards Tuesday, October 9 MILLION-AIR AWARD SONGS Honorees have accumulated substantial performance totals—from three to ten million—in U.S. radio and television. 3 MILLION CHASING CARS Nathan Connolly Gary Lightbody Jonny Quinn Tom Simpson Paul Wilson Universal Music Publishing Group Snow Patrol DE DO DO DO DE DA DA DA Sting EMI Music Publishing Ltd. I'm suprised to see HONKY TONK WOMEN and YMLF in the same sales category. The Stones song I thought would have gotten much more airplay being released a decade earlier and I have heard it on the radio a million times myself over the years.

I'm glad that Christine is up there.
I'm surprised that "You light up My life" by Debbie Boone is not on the list. The tune is played at weddings all the time.It was my late sisters wedding tune. There is alot of good tunes on the list. Ok wheres Landslide and Dreams.

Treble Zine, March 5, 2015 10 Essential Advice Songs
http://www.treblezine.com/21921-10-e...-advice-songs/ by Adam Blyweiss, A.T. Bossenger, Stephen Chupaska, Paul Pearson and Jeff Terich Fleetwood Mac – “Don’t Stop” from Rumours (1977; Reprise) The gleaming caramel of sunshine amidst the dire emotional environs of Rumours, “Don’t Stop” is Christine McVie’s parting alt-valentine to her pending ex-husband, bassist John McVie. Fleetwood Mac’s interpersonal dynamics at the time were such that sometimes the participants could only communicate to each other via song, making take-out sandwich orders challenging. Still Christine’s care-taking nature makes this shuffle more than a facile brush-off: “All I want is to see you smile/If it takes just a little while.” It worked: John eventually smiled, Rumours deservedly became an all-time rock classic, and Louie’s Deli got Stevie’s eggplant-and-feta on flatbread just right. Fifteen years later “Don’t Stop” became the ad-hoc theme for the 1992 Presidential elections and the pop anthem for the Clinton Administration, and even people in the Rust Belt and estate sales found themselves unexpectedly thinkin’ about tomorrow. – PP |

Somewhat off-topic, but I've always thought "She Loves You" is the best-ever advice song. And it didn't make this list. Oh, well.
