Are you sure? I was just listening to WHBQ and Dewey Phillips
said his home town was Memphis. I think the kid has some talent. |

And "they" say your tastes in music narrow as you age ...I guess that's true in some ways, my tastes HAVE narrowed...for a while, I'd narrowed my listening to just a handful of bands & artists I liked in my teens & twenties (Beatles, Stones, FMac, Clapton, Allmans, ZZ Top, Little Feat and not much more).
Once I got an iPod and started loading nearly my entire CD collection onto iTunes, my tastes opened up wide again...started listening to stuff I hadn't touched in years...and heard things in those songs/albums/artists I hadn't heard before, or had forgotten. Had I made that list about three years ago, it probably would've been the 7 artists I named above and that would've been about it.

Elvis Aaron Presley, in the humblest of circumstances, was born to Vernon and Gladys Presley in a two-room house in Tupelo, Mississippi on January 8, 1935. His twin brother, Jessie Garon, was stillborn, leaving Elvis to grow up as an only child. He and his parents moved to Memphis, Tennessee in 1948, and Elvis graduated from Humes High School there in 1953.
