Default Butt Lake swimming/camping pics. Yes, that is really the name.

*Warning to Strand and other sensitive souls. Pics may contain Tevas.*

I always have to take a beautiful sunset pic from the Amtrak. I believe the golden gate is in the backround.

Butt Lake. Swimming and fishing are yummy.

The spot in the distance is me rowing across the lake on a raft using two flat sticks we found as paddles.
I really like to row, but we didn't have a canoe or a canoe like raft.
Although on our last day someone said "hey, you guys should take our canoe out!" randomly. So we did. It rocked.

The lake with random kayaker

Our campsite. The firepit is there in the center. I meant to take a pic while our tent was up, but forgot.
It's cool how your nightly activity becomes chatting while staring at,
and rearranging, the fire. Why is that fun? Who knows, but it always is.

While we were fishing at this one spot (I wasn't fishing), a deer came down to
the water real close to us to drink. Pretty cool. It was literally 20 feet from my '"friend"

The lake was really cool in that the main entrance for swimming and launching by the campgrounds was really shallow
a long way out. You just kept walking and walking.
Of course we made jokes about Moses and stuff.
I liked it because I like swimming, but am also a chicken.

The view of the lake from our campground. It was inexplicably crowded,
and at first friend was bummed b/c we didn't get a likeside ground,
but the one we got across the road was far superior because it was private and really foresty.

On the way home, driving through Lassen national forest, we stopped at this other place. Deer Creek.
It also has campgrounds,
which my friend has camped and fished at many times.
It's a gorgeous river, I hope to camp there soon.
It was about a 45 minute drive from Butt Lake (hee hee, "butt")

This is the view of Mount Lassen you get as you drive away from Butt Lake

The River - Deer Creek (part of the Feather River). This was one of the places that Ishi, the last Yahi, lived.

The waterfall. There is a Salmon gate to the right of the fall.

Me in front of where the waterfall goes over. Obviously, the camera has added 30 lbs. To my thighs. Because it's that precision.

Me standing on a rock

Hey, you're right! I like how you found the silver lining there. I really do look better in real life...
If you haven't gone camping at this place I really recommend it. It's near Lake Almanor, but way better.
Cali is a smorgasbord of camping, though, there's a million beautiful places. But, I think I saw a UFO, and also it was a mountain/foothill lake that was warm enough to swim. Also, every sunset there was the Fish Eagle show, where we got to watch them dive into the lake and get fish! They would troll around overhead, then suddenly - DIVE! UNDER WATER! And bring a fish up in their claws. My friend caught a bunch of fish too, but let them go. Not with his claws so much as with a fishing pole.

The light is lovely, and you look relaxed, tan, happy, strong, and you have good posture. I wasn't even trying to find a silver lining, but I know how I look critically at myself in photos.
In some of our recent vacation photos, I am in an infinity pool with a panoramic view of the Pacific behind me, holding my happy laughing child, so I should I look at the pics and feel lucky, but I just think I look like Hagatha.

Darn, I wanted to see the pic of your friend diving into the water, and coming up with the fish in his claws.
I haven't been camping there before, but I am making a note of it.

i can't wait to get out there...

a) because we'd be rockstars again!
b) so i can use the tent that i keep in the trunk of my car at all times.
c) so you can stand next to my thighs and feel truly skinny.

i always enjoy your photos, babe

Great pics at Booty Lake. I wish I could have went when I was out there. Maybe next time....

Oh, and you're right. Your thighs are enormous!!! You really need to cover them up. I was blinded at first glance. ( I wish I could wear a bikini.... )

It's so weird to me that we went to 2 totally different places at the same time 3000 miles apart & they look so similar - serene, and gorgeous, and cool, and fun, and relaxing. Love the pics.

Love the pics, Amber. But stop saying Butt Lake! Who names a lake that?
