I think you can have a healthy sex life and still not enjoy a show that showcases bestiality and disembowelment. One thing has nothing to do with the other, as far as I can tell.
I enjoyed that season of AHS and I enjoyed the first season too, but a person having liberal views on sex may not be into gore. I don't think one thing means you automatically like or approve of the other. If it was a show with steamy nude scenes and Stevie said she didn't like it because it was too risqué that might seem hypocritical, but it's a show where a tongueless guy has a fetish for the corpses of young girls. Um ... I understand if that freaks people out. I've just been through Fringe and I love it more than words can say, just beyond reason, but that show ... if there's an eyeball within sight, they have an urge to get a scalpel and pluck it out and that is a little off-putting. American Horror Story tends to be the same way. So, it's great that Stevie likes AHS and Game of Thrones too, but if she didn't I wouldn't think she was a prude or pretending to be a prude. Those shows are a bit much and it has nothing to do with the sex. It has to do with their DESIRE to shock. Michele |

Very interesting replies.
I'm still surprised since she always speaks of her songs as children and is always so "protective" of them and all that. Now out they go into the world of the horror genre. I love the character Misty for her adoration and when she talks about the lyrics and music of Stevie to others so far. That's cool...but knowing it ties to the horror and terror of the storyline creeps me out a wee bit. And didn't they work some chords throughout the score? You sort of hear that edge of 17 riff......then slam....someone's stabbed and bleeding everywhere. lol. If I was a betting man, maybe I would bet she doesn't/hasn't watched it or her friends tell her to cover her eyes or ears when something gory is going on or FF. Even with her dark themes in her music and lyrics, Horror just seems too out there for Stevie. Didn't she like Twilight? If've never seen them but heard there is no gore or even blood. Not sure though. |

I am kind of immune to violence when it is removed. I can watch people being shot all day long. I just don't care. But that Batman with Heath Ledger? I watched it with my hands over my eyes, because his Joker was always wielding that knife and I was afraid that at any moment I would see him put it to someone's mouth and slash their lips corner to corner. That terrified me. You know a movie or television show with sex and violence is a lot different than a movie or television show with TORTURE. But Game of Thrones is no walk in the park, so if Stevie likes that, I can see her not being too horrified by AHS. Michele |

I've never seen Game of Thrones either, so I have a limited basis of comparison.

GoT is a wicked and fun ride, with wonderful acting and it can break your heart emotionally. It's not camp like AHS. But they love to titillate and to change the rules, the line of what's forbidden. Obviously, it's medieval, so they wouldn't be as likely to use Stevie songs as AHS was, but I could definitely see her wanting to write something for it. Not to derail SisterNightroads current AHS thread.
I was at Walmart tonight 01-16-2015 and they have Coven in stock if anybody is interested buying a hardcopy of it.
