My brand new CD, "BAND BOX BOOGIE", is at last released in Europe on the Hypertension Music label! The CD is a collection of 13 new songs, of which 10 are originals. Also included are songs from L.A. hipster Preston Smith, England's Big Town Playboys, and one from my favorite swing vocal groups from the 1930's, The Spirits of Rhythm. The style of this CD is made up of a variety of feels and textures, but overall, I'd say it "jumps, swings, and rhythm-rocks the blues" very well! Each song on the CD features the incredible sax work of Jim Hoke, who layered his tenor and baritone to create a great small horn section sound which stands apart from a typical "big band" approach. Drummers Ian Wallace, Rick Reed, and Greg Thomas, all make their mark in tandem with the rocking acoustic bass of "Big" Dave Roe, Glen Worf, Peter Feiberger, and Lee Hendricks.
