I LOVE this song now, but when I first heard it...I liked individual aspects of it (singing, guitar, etc.), but could not get into it overall(and was a bit "WTF?!"...and it takes a lot for me to be "WTF"). I think it was mainly the "redroverredroverredroverredrover...we've come to take you over...red rover...take you over (with the falsetto "ah"'s in the background) that got me. I wasn't getting it, in the same way that I (still) don't feel parts of Family Man (drives me crazy because I LOVE most of the song). But the (much-mentioned) uniqueness of the song and the orgasmic way in which it builds is irrisistable. It's fantastic! It also contains one of the best mid-song pauses in a rock song ever. That is THE moment for me...when it stops and then the guitar kicks back in.
