Default Spare Me A Little Of Your Love

Here's "Spare Me A Little Of Your Love" on YouTube from the Don Kirshner Show in 1974.

This must be one of Christine's best songs. Chris once said that Stevie only knew three chords, "but they were the right three chords." But it's Chris who uses the right six chords here -- each in the right place & held for just the right length of time. In terms of internal rhythms & their relationship to one another (which might be another way of characterizing relative note values), Chris is the most skillful songwriter in the group.

But she is gone now, Christine is . . . she is gone like the wind in the willow-tops.

She isn't dead, though! I still hold out hope for new music.

Yeah, Meantime is not even 5 years old, which is hardly a weekend vacation for FM members.

In case I hadn't mentioned it before, I was in the audience for this show.

It's interesting looking back and seeing that Christine had that "shawl thing" going well before Stevie joined the band.

Honestly I swear I was looking at the White album tour... I noticed that too...

I really appreciate her style back then... true rock and roll lady...

Finally got the time to watch the clip. Wow! I just love this song in all its incarnations. Chris sounds and looks terrific, and so does Bob. I really love the "country jam" at the end, which goes on just long enough to be fun, not so long that it gets jam-band-boring. The only thing wrong is we don't get to see much of Mick, who is always so interesting to watch.

Who was the extra musician announced at the beginning of the clip? I didn't see anybody performing other than Chris, Bob, Mick and John.

Doug Graves was the extra keyboard player on the beginning of that tour & in this clip. I think Bobby Hunt(a friend of Bob Welch) replaced him by the end of the tour.

There is that bootleg album of this tour that has one of those guys on it playing the totally un-Christine-like keyboards. I can never remember which of those guys is which. I'll have to watch the clip again because I honestly didn't see him -- I guess I was totally focused on looking at Chris even when she was in the background of the shot.

I really wish I had seen this tour. I was starting to listen to FM at the time but didn't see them perform until the White Album tour. I never saw Bob with the Mac (saw him years later on a solo tour).

Besides a "friend of Bob Welch", Bob's old bandmate from his pre-Fleetwood Mac band, Head West.
