[It's Thursday evening. Two songs are finished, and it has taken the band only three months to do them. Over drinks, and other substances, the band discusses the album's name]

Mick: Damn, man, I just spilled wine all over my tusk.

Christine: Your what?

Lindsey: Ha ha, it's his...

Stevie: Guys! Can you knock it off?

John: Pass me another, will you? Aahhh.

Mick hoists himself from the sofa, runs to the washroom.

Lindsey: We gotta come up with a name for this thing.

Christine: Well, of course we do, but shouldn't we record some more songs first?

Stevie: How about Ghost in the Cathouse?

Lindsey: Blaah... How about Total and Utter Nonsense?

Stevie: Well, how about The Biggest Guitar-Slinging Asshole in the World?

Lindsey: Oh, yeah? How about...

Christine: Kids, kids. Cut it out, will you?

John: Pass me another. (Belches thunderously.) A Thought bubble appears over his head: This rock 'n roll life is too rough. I oughta move to the Bahamas and open a boat charter business. Ooh, yeah, Bahama mama.

Lindsey: Where the hell's Mick? Hey, Mick, we gotta get back to work. I want to practice that riff I showed you yesterday. I've got some words too: "Why don't you tell me who's No. 1?" Thought bubble directly over his ego: Why, you, of course, Lindsey. "Why don't you tell me who's on the telephone? Toom tum toom. Ta tah ta."

Meanwhile, in the washroom, Mick stands in front of the mirror rehearsing his stage faces. He makes his eyes bulge out so far, they nearly crack the mirror.

Mick: Yeah, that was pretty good. Let's try raising my left brow up, up, up. Contorting the left corner of my mouth down, down... down. One more millimet... Ouch!

He walks back in, saying to himself: Tusk, he he, that's a good one. He sings: "Tusk, toom tu tum. Just tell me that you want me." Hey, that's pretty good. Lindsey. Hey, Liiiinndsey!! I just came up with a good lyric.

Lindsey: You did!? Look, let's go to the booth and work on that riff. You said you came up with a cool jungle beat.

[Two hours later, John, Lindsey and Mick have most of the song down.

Lindsey: Hey, why don't we call the song "Tusk?"

Mick: Excellent idea, lad. How about we call the whole album Tusk?

Lindsey: Yeah, good name for a song, but not an album. Pleeaase. How stupid...

Bubble over Mick's head: Little snot-nosed punk. Wouldn't know a good album name if it nipped him in the ego. Oh, yeah, note to self: When I get around to writing that book I've been planning, make sure to take the credit for this "Tusk" song.

[What will happen next? Will the album be named Tusk? Will Stevie and Lindsey get along? Will they EVER record any more songs for this thing? Find out in the next episode of Tusk: The Story Behind the Story.]

You can't rush genius, my friend. Just ask Lindsey. But I'll try.

Forget American Idol and the MTV Music Awards. Forget The Sopranos and Beverly Hills 90210 (is that still on?).

Tune in soon to the next episode of Tusk: The Story Behind the Story.

Cristian:

About the name, it was just one of those things. I wanted to come up with something different, and for some reason, carne de vaca popped into my head. Don't know why. I dropped the "de" and went with it.

By the way, it means the same thing in Portuguese as Spanish.

Go vegan!

Cow meat, that is. I just wanted to know... perhaps you'd have some latin roots or something...

Just a parenthesis, Ledgies...

Wink I hope this Part was Satire too....

"You can't rush genius, my friend.Just ask Lindsey."

I LOVE your satire,it's HILARIUS...but as far as Lindsey goes we don't know wether it's postponed genius,a MASSIVE inferiority complex,and/or complete and utter insanity ....Best to keep it comin'

LOL

[It's early afternoon on a Sunday. Lindsey reclines on a chair in front of the boards. He has headphones on and taps his foot, grabs a pencil and starts drumming on the edge of the console. He gets up, stars jumping.]

"This ain't no party, this ain't no disco, this ain't no foolin' around," he shouts at the top of his lungs. "No time for dancin' or lovey dovey, I ain't got time for that now."

He grabs for a Telecaster leaning on a chair, and starts strumming the chords to the song. He now struts, now marches about the room jerking his head this way and that.

Mick walks in, stands watching his band made. Thought balloon over Mick's head: "How did I ever let this fruit in the band?"

Mick: "Lindsey. Lindsey. Hey, hello?"

Lindsey sees him, rips the headphones off his head, sets down the guitar and says: "Mick, have you heard these guys? They're fantastic." He sings: "Stop making sense, making sense." Thought balloon thought over Lindsey's head: "I ain't got time for that now. What a great line that is. Must use it somewhere."

Mick: "Well, that's great. Listen, mate, Stevie has a couple of songs I think you need to hear."

Lindsey: "All right, let's go."

They walk into a room draped in velvet. Candles sit on every available inch of space. It smells like church on Good Friday.

"Lindsey," Stevie says, "I got some songs." She gets up, does a couple of twirls...

"Can we just have the music?" Lindsey grows impatient.

"Lindsey, I must twirl in order to sing my songs right."

"All right, all right, let's hear them."

She sits at the Casio and hammers on some keys. Dissonant sounds tumble out of the little speaker. "Ooops, sorry, let's try that again." Then she starts to sing.

"Every night that goes between, I feel a little less, as you slowly..."

"Wow, that's really great," Mick interrupts.

"Hey, Mick, shut up. Let her sing," Lindsey says, growing even more impatient.

Stevie resumes singing. Mick's roadie walks up with a ladder, climbs and spills some Budweiser into the freakishly tall drummer's open mouth. Stevie finishes the song, says: "What do you think?"

"That's nice," Lindsey says. "I can already hear some swirly guitar parts in there."

Stevie leaps up, does a couple of twirls and squeals with excitement. "Now, listen to this one," she says.

"Wait a minute, baby. Stay with me a while, you said you'd give me light..."

After about 23 minutes of the song, Lindsey says, "That's a nice one, but we'll have to edit it down. Six minutes, tops."

Bubble over Stevie's head: "Over my dead, chiffon-draped body, you egotistical jerk."

[Will Stevie get the full song into the album? Will Lindsey finish any more of his own songs? And, where are John and Christine? Find out in the next episode of Tusk: The Story Behind the Story.]

Well...as a stand alone episode it was pretty good.

But you set a really high standard with this series, and the last instalment wasn't quite as good as the others.

The Bob Marley/Elvis line in the first episode was classic

Hey, I can take the criticism. I just gotta come up with some good stuff for the next one. Admittedly, I wasn't as inspired for this last one. If anyone has any ideas, let me know.

Peace.
