I guess Christine McVie stands to make a pretty sum this summer thanks to American Idol including Don't Stop in their set. What kind of royalties are we talking about?

TAYLOR ALL THE WAY!

maybe i'm slightly jealous since i had a baby 2 months ago
Just to let you know her hair is fake (some of it anyway). I hope that makes you feel a little better lol.

I must say that the finale was waaaaaaaay too long, and it had some pretty cheesy moments. I, for one, enjoyed it immensely! I don't care, I'll admit that I'm a loser, I loved it.

Seriously, I just watched it back again on Tivo (I had a bunch of friends from work over last night for an "Idol" party & things were a bit too loud to hear & see everything - YEAH, that's right, I had an IDOL party, screw you!) and I thought it was great! Everyone looked gorgeous & sounded awesome. And yes, Taylor won, so while I'm not thrilled (I was rooting for Chris or Elliot) I'm pretty satisfied. Taylor AND Kat both got brand new cars & records deals, so I don't think anyone needs to boohoo for Kat.

Highlights: I could not believe the artists they had on that show last night! PRINCE?!?! Are you kidding me? Prince doesn't do this type of thing, I was so excited when he came out. He was fabulous. Hilarious that he walked offstage before Seacrest could get to him & try to shake his hand.

Mary J. Blige & Elliot were fantastic on "One" (woman gave me chills when she did it with U2 this year on The Grammy's and she gave me chills again) and although "That's What Friends Are For" usually induces vomitting for me, Dionne Warwick looks & sounds fantastic. The Burt Bacharach (sp) medley was fun. And "Don't Stop" was not bad at all, IMO! I was just thrilled to finally see a Mac tune on this show. Chris doing that tune with Live was very cool, and Paris was in her element singing with Al Jarreau.

Anyone notice that Mandisa ended up front & center at the end of the ladies' medley? Wonder if that was accidental.

Lowlights: WTF happened to Clay? I don't think he looked bad, just really different. My mom asked me this morning "who was that guy that came out to sing to that goofy kid?" I had to explain it was Clay with some weirdo haircut, she had no idea. HEY! I just realized who he looks like now - the gay brother in Wedding Crashers who's in love with Vince Vaughn & paints his portrait!

Can Toni Braxton please learn to project her voice? I couldn't hear a damn thing out of her mouth.

Can Meatloaf please learn to get his timing right? He was way off on the first verse. The rest was OK, he doesn't sound all that great these days, but Kat played it up really well with him on stage, good theatrics.

Can we stop the whole "Kelly Pickler is a cute dumb blond" act? I was fooled for a while, until I read that one day she said "I'm sometimes confused by Simon's terminology." Really. Terminology? That's a pretty big word for a dumb blond. Whatever. I like her haircut, though.

Pickler and Wolfgang Puck made me want to turn off the t.v. That? was painful. It soooo wasn't funny and only made the two of them look like stupid bafoons. We already know that Pickler is a fool, but Wolfgang too? Yikes.

Yeah, Clay's hair looked, um, weird and I forgot about how funny he sounds when he sings. He's got a weird, weird, singing style, I don't even know how to describe it, it's just...odd.

Don't Stop was bad. But I don't really like that song to begin with, so

I knew Taylor would win. Is anyone really shocked?

I too loved this. Prince is f*cking fabulous. That is all.

Elliott was seriously upstaged by Mary J. I was like, ****, Elliott just walk off the stage because she's making it clear that this is HER moment. I was kind of disappointed about that .

This and Meatloaf's performance were the weirdest of the night .

See above comment.

I thought Toni Braxton was the weirdest. At one point she tried to do some freak dance with Taylor and I noticed he moved out of the way. After all, his parents were watching.
Mary J. stole the show. That was hot, hot, hot. And Prince? I was not even expecting that. I'm off to buy some Prince on iTunes this morning. He was sublime.

I read this before coming to the Ledge...Prince??

Obviously, I haven't watched it yet, I will tonight.

20 Random Idol finale observations
May 25, 2006. 09:38 AM
VINAY MENON

1. Carrie Underwood thought-bubble: "Okay, now we’re even. I’m so done with American Idol after tonight."
2. Is Heather Locklear dating Ben Stiller?
3. Chris Daughtry is performing with his favourite band, Live. Guess that’s a screw-you to Fuel.
4. Did Wolfgang Puck just say kissing Kellie Pickler "was the perfect appetizer"?
5. Yes, Kellie, escargot is pronounced "escargoatee." My God, she’s going to vomit on live television!
6. In a constant attempt to make Katharine seem slimmer, producers resort to Plan B: a duet with Meatloaf.
7. Get the stun-gun before that jumping freak Dave Hoover injures somebody in the audience!
8. More Puck 'n' Pickler: Now Kellie is trying to hypnotize a lobster.
9. Are we really listening to a medley of BTO and Fleetwood Mac?
10.Um, when did Mary J. Blige enter the Witness Protection Program?
11.I think Toni Braxton is lipsynching!
12. Just what Clay Aiken needs: singing an Elton John song classic while joined on stage by a hyperventilating male superfan.
13. The finalists are performing with... Burt Bacharach? Seriously, is it 2006 or have I fallen through a hole in the space-time continuum?
14. Chicken Little just got caught between the moon and New York City.
15. Next category in the Golden Idol Awards ... 'Best Male Bonding'. This may be the first TV show that’s in the closet.
16. Prince walks off stage and Ryan Seacrest suddenly looks tall enough to play in the NBA.
17. Just before the winner is announced, Katharine and Taylor are dressed for the prom and singing a duet though neither appears to be having the time of their lives.
18. On the record 63.4 million votes, Ryan says, "That’s more than any president in the history of our country has ever received!" Yes, jackass, because teens are not permitted to vote 10,000 times each in national politics.
19. Taylor Hicks is the American Idol! And for a nice change, somebody other than Katharine’s father is crying. Don’t be shy! Let it all out, Mr. Hicks! If David Hasselhoff can weep, so can you!
20. Taylor is singing his debut single 'Do I Make You Proud?' No, not at this moment. Hey, he’s already won, no reason to sing in tune now. Soul Patrol!

Me too. That was awesome. There was some rumour that he had said that he was too good for AI.

Apparently that was his first public outing since his porn escapades on the internet.

I just loved the fact that Taylor won and Simon didn't even want him to make it to the next round in the beginning. Stupid Simon.

^ Shut up Theresa.

Livia - those 20 random thoughts are hilarious, that guy hit the nail on the head on every one of them.

Forgot to mention that I was dying laughing at Simon's montage to "Do You Think I'm Sexy?" LOL!

And Hasselhoff? WTF?

Personally, I think he wanted to take him backstage for a private visit.
