Default Fleetwood Mac: UNPLUGGED dvd/album -- Dream Tracklist

By popular demand: Imagine that Fleetwood Mac is doing an Unplugged splecial & cd. What would you tell them to play?

Here's the rules:

1. Only 14 tracks (the same number as on Eric Clapton's Unplugged album)
2. Only Fleetwood Mac tracks (no solo tracks or covers not already recorded and released by Fleetwood Mac)
3. Only tracks that received official release
4. Only the current line up: Mick, John, Lindsey, Stevie (though the songs can be from ANY era of the Mac)
ETA: 5. Apparently most Unplugged sessions feature one totally new, never-before-done cover. You may, if you want, choose one song you'd like the Mac to cover, but it can't be one that they've covered before as a band or individually, live or released!

Now, what is your dream tracklist for Fleetwood Mac: Unplugged?

Doesn't every Unplugged show has to have at least one cover in it (so I heard)?

I have to say that I'm surprised by my choices! Too bad we couldn't include Buckingham Nicks material.... Think they'll ever play anything from that album live again?

It seems to be the convention, but I can't find anything official. Good question though! I'll leave that to the discretion of the poll-ees.

See above:

This idea would be so great for the band to do. No idea why they've not done it yet. They could re-work some songs and really film something great.

The Chain
Never Going Back Again
Landslide
World Turning
Gypsy
Big Love
Bleed to Love Her
Gold Dust Woman
Stephanie (an instrumental intro to...)
Eyes of the World
Beautiful Child
What Makes You Think You're The One
Sisters of the Moon
Go Your Own Way
Destiny Rules

This is an awesome idea!! I'd love to see this happen. Here's my list, just off the top of my head:

The Chain
Blue Letter
Say You Love Me
That's Enough For Me
Oh Daddy (I still say Stevie would blow the roof off the place if she sang this, even on the current tour!!)
Save Me A Place
Gypsy
Steal Your Heart Away
Beautiful Child
Never Going Back Again
Oh Well
Don't Stop
Go Your Own Way
Encore: Landslide

I may or may not have time to make a setlist tonight, but FM Unplugged on MTV would be like a dream come true! Paramore just did theirs recently, and I'm pretty sure Green Day has probably done a set for the show too. They always turn out uber cool! I think this needs to happen.

This rule prevents my having a dream track list. I'd want songs recorded only in the '70s or early '80s.

That's a great tracklist. My only quibbles would be: Don't Stop (though maybe it would work) and "Oh Well" (which I just can't imagine unplugged).

Magnificent!! Especially for the Illume inclusion. That would DEFINATELY be on mine.

Wow. This is great too. And I agree with you that it seems like a no-brainer to have done this SOMETIME in the last 12 years. I blame the managers.

p.s. - this is really hard to limit to 14 tracks

THIS IS THE OFFICIAL WILL NEVER EVER HAPPEN TRACKLIST

1. "Little Lies" (duet)
2. "Gypsy"
3. "Bleed to Love Her"
4. "Rhiannon"
5. "Save Me a Place"
6. "Walk a Thin Line"
7. COVER: "Black Cloud" (Morrissey) (duet)
8. "Illume (9/11)"
9. "Family Man"
10. "Eyes of the World"
11. "Beautiful Child"
12. "Thrown Down"
13. "Go Your Own Way"
14. "Sisters of the Moon"

P.S. - I had a final 16. I cut "Landslide" and "Steal Your Heart Away" (I LOOVE the studio version, but didn't really care for the Soundstage version, though I do think the full Mac could do it better than that) because I wanted to include a Christine song and a cover.

They sort of already did this, or at least PLANNED to do this. "The Dance" was supposed to be an Unplugged album. When MTV approached them they wanted the Mac to do an Unplugged album in the same vein as the Eagles' "Hell Freezes Over" (which is why they used the same producer). MTV gave them a list of songs they wanted them to do on the show and the Mac went about with coming up with arrangements for the songs. Some of the songs were used as arranged for the unplugged set "Say You Love Me", "Go Insane" etc. I believe "Silver Springs" was also arranged accoustically. But FM went back to MTV and said they would rather just do a live album instead.

I think this would be a great way for the band to show some creativity and give some new life to some old mainstays and lesser known tracks. I quickly tossed this together, but I think it gives good representation to their (Stevie and Lindsey) Fleetwood Mac output as well as the requisite cover. Okay, I cheated on the cover, but technically it would be Fleetwood Mac covering Buckingham Nicks, so it works...
  1. Go Your Own Way
  2. Gypsy
  3. Big Love
  4. Rhiannon
  5. Book of Love
  6. Oh Daddy (Stevie)
  7. Crystal
  8. Beautiful Child
  9. Walk a Thin Line
  10. Smile at You
  11. Little Lies (Lindsey)
  12. Silver Springs
  13. Blue Letter
  14. Frozen Love

This was really freakin' difficult and I'm not sure if I'm happy with mine yet.

1. Angel
2. What Makes You Think You're the One
3. Destiny Rules (acoustic and raw-- just a few guitars, mandolin, whatever)
4. Family Man (similarly played to "Destiny Rules")
5. Frozen Love
6. Go Insane (just Lindsey)
7. Rhiannon (put back in Lindsey's solo. I have full faith that Stevie can make this totally demonic and nearly as intense as the 70s without straining her voice. She doesn't have to hit the high ones to kick ass. It'll just be a different type of demonic. I HAVE FAITH!)
8. Brown Eyes (primarily sang by Lindsey. A little creepily.)
9. Planets of the Universe (the lyrics from TISL but a piano version, like the demos we have)
10. Red Rover (REALLY raw, just Lindsey and his guitar)
11. Gold Dust Woman
12. Never Going Back Again
13. Gypsy (piano only)
14. Crystal

Ok, I'll try this.

1. The Chain
2. Sisters of the Moon
3. Angel
4. Trouble
5. Go Insane
6. Gypsy
7. Bleed To Love Her
8. Thrown Down
9. Beautiful Child
10. Monday Morning
11.Shut Us Down
12. Gold Dust Woman
13. Chasing Pavements (Cover of Adele's version)
14. Never Going Back Again

It would be an interesting set, that's for sure.
