Arrow DISCUSSION: Any other Peter songs not already considered

What other (not on the previous albums in the Battle of the Songs) Peter songs do you think should be considered for a 10 song multiple choice battle? The songs most represented here on this thread will move on to the poll in a few days.

There are loads of his best performances that have not yet been touched....from the "Live at the Boston Tea Party" discs, the "Vaudeville Years" and "Show-Biz Blues" discs, the "Blues Jam in Chicago" set, "Live at the BBC", etc. And that's not even getting into some of the more common bootleg recordings out there. The songs mentioned so far have barely scratched the surface.

Sharksfan2000 is right as usual. I understand what the nature of this battle of the vinyl is about and that is in part the problem when it comes to Peter. We are blessed with a great volume of his recorded work in such a small window of time. Granted that much of what is available is culled from live sources there is still the matter of singles. For the sake of brevity however I am willing to overlook the volume of his superior (understatement)live bootleg recordings and just deal with the Fleetwood Mac Singles because like so many of the artists of the day people bought singles as well as albums and in Europe what made Fleetwood Mac out sell the Rolling Stones and The Beatles combined in one year was not "Dog And Dustbin" or Mr Wonderful" or "Then Play On" but the singles "Man OF The World", and "Albatross" and "Oh Well", and Need Your Love So Bad' and to a lesser extent his greatest moneymaker " Black Magic Woman". Or What about 'The Green Manalishi" Where does that go. that song is one of the most covered FM songs by heavy metal bands.

The Other Albums already mentioned were also legitimate FM releases from the Vernons on Blue Horizon and just as viable using your criteria. If you want tostick to them via timeline then you have to list Blues Jam In Chicago either as a double or two single Albums as it was released both ways. There you encounter Danny's superb "Like It This Way" which was one of Fleetwood Macs most popular live songs. One that spurs the debate of the greatest guitar duos ever. Homework which is only officially released here as well as OOh Baby Watch Out a favorite of mine Last Night. Sugar Momma,World in A Tangle and that is not including the Jam session. If you want to be fussy one might argue about the addition of Otis Spann and SP Leary but then You would have to discount Johnny Almond Steve Gregory Duster Bennett and Christine Perfect from Mr Wonderful.
And then there is the Jeremy Spencer Album which Warner could have released as part of a double with Then Play On. All the FM personell at the time were on it. Where does that fit?
And like Sharksfan2000 I did not even tread into the issue of bootlegs or retrospective releases like Showbiz Blues or Vaudville Years . You said you did not want to do Live Albms so there lies much of The old Fleetwood Macs best work.......like "Blood On The Floor"

Okay so far we got 2 songs, "Man of the World" and "The Green Manalishi." We need 8 more songs that you guys feel would qualify for this particular battle. Any songs released on those "other" releases can count, but bootleg or unofficial recordings will not count.

Take every Peter Green song from "The Original Fleetwood Mac", notables include the original "Drifting", and "Fool No More". Of course there is the song that launched the band, "Fleetwood Mac", with "First Train Home". There's also a first (incomplete) take of "Watch Out" that displays Mick Fleetwood's best skills as a drummer.

"Sandy Mary", from Boston/BBC, with Green/Kirwan songs such as "Loving Kind", "Only You", and "World in Harmony".

Though it's a cover, I think Peter's(and FM) version of "Tallahassee Lassie" from BBC destroys the original.

Here's a proposed list of songs for the battle...

1. Man of the World
2. Green Manalishi
3. Watch Out
4. Ooh Baby
5. Last Night
6. Homework
7. Sugar Momma
8. Drifting
9. Fool No More
10. Fleetwood Mac
11. First Train Home
12. Sandy Mary

If "Loving Kind", "Only You", and "World in Harmony" are joint efforts by Peter and Danny, we'll save those for a Favorite Collaboration Songs battle.

There is a limit of 10 choices in a poll, so we need to remove 2 songs...

*The poll will be multiple choice.*

Thanks slipkid - I'll remove "Ooh Baby" and "Last Night". I'll put up the poll right now.

I thought "Only You" was entirely Kirwan.

Yes, it is - only "World in Harmony" got a joint Green/Kirwan credit.

We can count "World in Harmony" as a collaboration in the battle of the songs.

Might be the only collaboration, though? Not sure about "The Purple Dancer" - that might be another one.

Although I suppose the "Madge" and "Underway" jams may qualify.
