Default Unpopular Stevie opinions

What opinions do you have about Stevie which generally are pretty unpopular / others won't neccessarily agree with? I had this idea earlier in the day while listening to The Wild Heart. I know everyone obsesses over the dressing room version, but, I think the studio version is sublime (even when she's ranting about angels and children) and the superior version.

Others I thought of...

The original version of Silver Springs (chorus of Stevie's et all) is the best. It beats The Dance one hands down.

TOSOTM and SA should basically not exist. Terrible albums with a handful of good songs.

The best version of Twisted is on 24 Karat Gold.

Stevie's songs saved SYW from being terrible, and Silver Girl isn't all that bad either.

Moonlight > Lady From The Mountains.

Do you guys have any unpopular opinions on Stevie?

Silver Springs on The Dance wasn't that special. The song was much more rousing and dynamic on the actual tour.

Sure I have unpopular or unconventional opinions that maybe are not the majority opinions here.

I love Street Angel
I don't care for TISL
I love TOSOTM
I don't care for 24 K gold but I like the original demos better (especially all the beautiful worlds)
I like the pre-Betty Ford clinic Stevie the most
Most of Rock a little does not appeal to me
I love Sometimes Its a Bitch and Desert Angel

LOL am I right? These opinions are unpopular here LOL

I Will Run To You is far superior to SDMHA.

I've never really liked any of Stevie's music videos.

Watch Chain is one of the best songs on 24KG.

Gate and Garden is a good song.

Moonlight is not a bad song but I really wish she would have recorded it just like the demo or have left it in the vault.

I hated Stevie's hair from RAL until SA

She Loves Him Still and Hard Advice are about Joe Walsh (is that an unpopular opinion?)

The Practical Magic version of Crystal is my favorite.

That's all I have for now, I'll probably think of more later...

You are right. The Practical Magic version of Crystal is amazing. One of the few remakes that is better IMHO of course

I love TOSOTM and RAL (RAL's my second favorite album, and I love every track)
I love Stevie's versions of I Still Miss Someone and Just Like a Woman
I love Too Far From Texas, That Made Me Stronger, Kick It, and Gate and Garden.
I like IYD, but it's my second least favorite album of hers (after Street Angel).
I love the new tracks on Timespace.

I agree with this. In fact, the original SS is one of my fav Stevie/FM recordings ever.

I so do love the 24 KG version of Twisted, but the Twister soundtrack version is still my fav.

^^^ I agree wholeheartedly with EVERY one of these statements!!!

I'll add that I think TISL is far superior to IYD and that 24KG is superior to both (How's THAT for a very unpopular opinion? )

All of her videos are horrible. "Talk to me" is the only one that is watchable. You would think that during that time, the mid 80's, when it was all about "the video," Stevie would have put some thought into making a KILLER video for some of her singles. The "Stand Back" video???? That could have been made to be a classic. "Gypsy " is sooooooooooooo good, I'm surprised she didn't use the same production people to do something for her solo stuff.

These are 2 of Stevie's BEST albums

I don't like 70s/early 80s Stevie's voice

I don't know if these are truly unpopular, but:

1) I find the 1983 Landover video performance much better than the Us festival one

2) I think the album version of Sara is much better than any live rendition

3) I don't like The other side of the mirror (yet)

I'm not keen on OSOTM and really dislike 24KG, but I love Street Angel.

Pretty much all of Stevie's cover songs suck, except "Free Fallin'"

Red Rocks is TERRIBLE.

I find most of Stevie's album covers boring as hell and in some cases, WTF? TISL being the exception.

The Chris Lord-Alge single remix of Blue Denim is better than both the album version and Enchanted version.

I honestly cannot remember the last time I listened to the studio version of "Edge of Seventeen", but I have 30-odd live versions that are in heavy rotation.

I absolutely love "Gate & Garden", "No Questions Asked" and "Paper Doll" which always seem to get a lot of hate.

"When I See You Again" is the worst Mac Stevie song.

I don't think either of these are really "unpopular opinions". I think MOST people here would agree with you.

I love "Too Far From Texas", and (I don't know if this is as unpopular, but maybe) the Sheryl Crow songs on Trouble in Shangri-La are 4 of my 7 favorite tracks off of it, and there's only one song on that album that Crow produced that I don't like ("That Made Me Stronger", which I don't like because of the lyrics). I think Sheryl's smokey So-Cal cowgirl thing worked really well for Stevie.

I like Trouble much more than In Your Dreams, but I don't know if that's incredibly unpopular.

I never liked any "Crystal".

Oh, and I think "Affairs of the Heart" is okay and "Paper Doll" and "No Questions Asked" are quite enjoyable.

I like it, too and when I first got the album, I liked it most. But that changed over the next 2 years. I still like TFFT, but it's like #7 for me on TISL, not #1.
