Default Soul Drifter

a bit of Soul Drifter live from Regis and Kathie Lee interview in 1992, promoting OOTC (you can practically see KLG drooling all over LB during that interview):

soul drifter start ~3:45 (slowed down live studio version):

live from Letterman (1992):

there used to be an official vid version on youtube but can't find it now - guess it's been pulled...

i think it rocks on the album too, but i've never heard a concert version. that's my 8yo's favorite song on OOTC.
I don't know about videos, but here's Doing What I Can live in DC 3/30/93: Doing What I Can (Wash DC 93) (flac format - sorry!)

I *loved* Doing What I Can the first time I heard it. I can't explain why.

He also did Wrong live for a very short time. I have one recording of that.

And don't forget the live Countdowns!

I'm disappointed that he never got to promote his last 3 solo albums on Letterman's show. Conan is not enough.

Doing What I Can. I don't know what it is about this song, but it's one of my fav Lindsey solo tunes. I think it has to be one of Lindsey's most under appreciated/unacknowledged songs within the Mac community. Every time I listen Doing What I Can, it wows me like the first time I heard it. It's just so epic & grand sounding, yet the message the song tells is quite straightforward & humble. I just love it. The guitar solo at the end ain't too bad either!

That was my second choice. I actually find myself singing it a lot! It was so hard not voting for it, but I had to go with You Do or You Don't. I guess I just find it more uplifting...I guess. They're pretty equal in my mind though. I love Soul Drifter too...lots of great stuff on this poll! These two are just so much more inspiring, though.

Thumbs up Such a hard choice!

I voted "Countdown" because, even though it isn't my favorite of the bunch (though it is a STRONG contender for being so), the message in this song is very powerful to me. It's uplifting and I believe everyone can relate to it. That "things are gonna turn around" just really moves me.

"Turn It On" was this close. But I went with my choice because I truly feel that these are times when people are feeling discouraged and going through a lot and I LOVE the way this song focuses on that.

ok, people - we need more votes in this poll to break up this multi-way tie situation:

Countdown 6
That's All For Everyone 5
Soul Drifter 4
You Do Or You Don't 4
Don't Look Down 3
Turn It On 3
This Is the Time 2
Doing What I Can 1
World Turning 1
Surrender The Rain 1

songs can move into the next round if:
  • they are poll *winners* = songs that have at least 2 votes more than a runner-up song.
  • if there are 2 (or 3?) songs with exact same number of votes, or the winning song has just 1 vote more than the 2nd song, both songs will go into the next round.

in this poll all songs are still within 1 vote from each other.

EDIT: wow - and while i was writing this, 2 more votes for Countdown popped up!! so it now takes the lead with 6 votes. [but still just within 1 vote from the next song which is just 1 vote from the next etc etc]
