Default ET: Elizabeth Taylor Near Death Rumor Not True

Elizabeth TaylorET: Elizabeth Taylor Near Death Rumor Not True
July 31, 2008, 3:57 PM EST
Entertainment Tonight

ET breaks the news that the rumor saying the legendary Dame Elizabeth Taylor was on life support because of heart failure is not true.

"Ms. Taylor is fine," her management tells ET. "The rumors which began in England about her health are dramatic, overstated and untrue. Her hospital visit was precautionary. She will be returning home shortly. At present, she is surrounded by family, friends and fabulous jewels."

We're told she's currently in the hospital in Los Angeles.

Glad to hear it is not serious ..Liz is perhaps the last great creation of the Hollywood studio system .Her like will not be seen again and we should never forget her early work in the fight against AIDS.

Sad to say, this most likely means her remaining time is short.

Hopefully, there won't be a lot of publicity around this.

No, I don't.

You do realize that Elizabeth Taylor's career goes beyond a cultural reference or two you may have seen in a Sex & in the City episode, right?

I'm pretty sure Liz has been at death's door many times, according to gossip rags. I think it started in the 80's.

That's what made me think of Charlotte York, on one episode she was watching "True Hollywood Story" about one of those experiences and how she rebounded.

Oh nooooo it started in 1961 when she was not yet 30 years old while filming Cleopatra in London she got a severe case of pneumonia that had her at the very do0r of death and she recieved a tracheotomy and survived and then won an Academy award for the rather tawdry Butterfield 8 the thinking at the time was she won it due to her near death experience that reversed public opinion as she had been in the dog house after stealing Debbie Reynold's husband ..Shirley MacLaine who was up that year for the much better film The Apartment famously quipped I lost the Oscar to a tracheotomy.

The Apartment was a vastly better film. A little bit tawdry also, but well written.

The Apartment was, to me, too depressing. I did not really like Butterfield 8.

I thought Cleopatra was great though it was cheesey in some parts. What can I say, I'm a sucker for an epic.

Default La Taylor

I liked Cleopatra though it could have been better produced.
Also I liked:
Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf?
Cat on a hot tin roof
Suddenly, last summer
National Velvet

And I loved :
Giant
Malice in Wonderland
but specially adored A place in the sun, with Montgomery Clift. Elizabeth looks beautiful as her best!

Btw, I've heard she hates to be called LIZ, is that true?

And.. did she appeared in DYNASTY? I have not seen those episodes. Or was just a rumour?

I don't think so but she did have a role on General Hospital as a crooked Greek tycoon's wife ..Helena Considine.
